PSY 1-A

Think about a time when you have experienced severe stress that affects your
mental health. Describe the situation and symptoms you experienced. What
techniques do you use for managing stress?

As a normal human being, I myself, knows that everyone experiences stress. But
in my case, when I am stressed, I tend to overthink a lot of things. The last time I was
severely stressed was last week. When school started, I was not feeling excited. I can
only feel the nervousness and the fear that I might not be able to catch up, due to the
online classes set up because this is not the study habit that I am used to. During the
first week of online classes, I was feeling stressed and frustrated, I was having a hard
time to understand discussions. But I set myself into listening and cooperating in the
setup for me to cope with my stress and the anxiety that I was feeling. I even had a
breakdown and a lot of overthinking while doing so. I usually have an anxiety over
talking to people, I tend to be scared and shy sometimes. When I introduced myself, my
hands were shaking and I was talking really fast because I want it to end. I also felt
nervousness and stress due to this. I always feel nauseous whenever I have to talk to
people I don’t know, especially if it is a serious setting.

The way I manage my stress is by motivating myself and thinking that no matter
what happens, someday, everything that I am stressed and anxious about will turn into
something that I will be proud of. So whenever I am stressed, I always think and remind
myself to always continue because the journey will always be worth it.
