Curve Library : Modeling


1. Create Curve Library

1. Base Tab > Curve > Create


2. Name: PSC Box , Direction: +X , Unit length: 100.0 ft
3. Click , and it will automatically enter the Curve Library Mode. (Can manually enter
this mode through Works Tree)

2. General Profile (Import)


1. In Curve Library Mode, Base Tab > User Section > Import
2. Go to General Profile folder, select and import all pre-defined general profile files.

3. Single Curve (PSC END Section)
1. Model Tab > General > Concrete
2. create Tab >
3. User section list: PSCEND
4. Assign Section: Plane(3 points), then click three points consecutively
Origin point: click , click on the origin (0, 0, 0), click Assign
5. Generate member: Positive, 13.0 ft
6. Click , Cardinal point: Center-Top

7. property Tab > , Material: 4: Grade C6000
8. Go back to create Tab, click Preview, then click

4. Single Curve (Tapered Section)
1. create Tab > , check on Tapered section > Start section Tab
2. User section list: PSCSTD2
3. Assign Section: Plane(3 points), then click three points consecutively
Origin point: click , click on the New Origin as shown below, click Assign

1. End section Tab
2. User section list: PSCSTD
3. Assign Section: Plane(3 points), then click three points consecutively
Check on Guide plane, enter 13.0 ft, click Assign

1. Check off Tampered section
2. User section list: PSCSTD
3. Assign Section: Plane(3 points), then click three points consecutively
Origin point: click , click on the New Origin, click Assign
4. Generate member: Positive, 48.0 ft
5. Click Preview, click

2. User section list: PSCEND
3. Assign Section: Plane(3 points), then click three points consecutively
Origin point: click , click on the New Origin, click Assign
4. Generate member: Positive, 13.0 ft
5. Click Preview, click

1. Continue in Curve Library Mode, Base Tab > View
2. Transparency: 0.5

2. Transverse Rebar 1
1. Model Tab > Rebar > Draw
2. Select target member: click Select and select the first segment (make sure the button
changed to Selected)
3. Define rebar plane: choose Plane (By select) and click on the section plane of the first
segment. Zoom in and click the Blue Arrow to define rebar array direction. Then a section
view will show up.

2. Transverse Rebar 1
4. Change default unit to kips and in from bottom of the screen
5. draw Tab: Choose Transverse Rebar, Free Shape
6. property Tab: Code: ASTM A 615, Diameter #6
7. Hook: for this step, choose No hook
8. Cover thickness: On plane: 3.6in, From start/end plane: 3.6in
9. Offset: Start/End length: -15.6in

2. Transverse Rebar 1
10. draw Tab: Draw rebar using Line(2 points), select 4 points as indicated below, then press
Esc on your keyboard to finish the line.

3. Transverse Rebar 2
1. Continue to add rebar. Go to the property tab.
2. Hook: choose Custom hook, Angle: 135 deg, Radius: 2.625 in, Length: 4.5 in
3. Go back to draw tab. Choose Line(2 points), select the two points as indicated, then
press Esc.

4. Longitudinal Rebar 1
1. Go to draw tab. Select Longitudinal Rebar, select Multiple
2. Go to property tab. Code: ASTM A 615, Diameter: #6
3. Hook type: No hook
4. Offset: Start/End length: 3.6 in, Start/End spacing 0.0 in
5. Click , select by Number, Number of rebar: 20

4. Longitudinal Rebar 1
6. Go back to draw tab. Click Select transverse rebar and move the cursor around the top/
bottom transverse rebar and click to add longitudinal rebar.
Note: Longitudinal rebar should be inside.

5. Longitudinal Rebar 2
1. property tab > , Number of rebar: 15
2. Go back to draw tab. Select 2Point Draw, click Pick point 1, and click 1st Point and 2nd
Point as indicated. Complete both side.
3. Exit drawing using close button on top right.

6. Array Rebar
1. Model tab > Rebar > Array
2. Select rebar: click Select button, select previous assigned rebar (It should show “6 Objects
Selected” if select correctly)
3. Select target member: select all segments except the first segment (4 Objects Selected)
4. Define end plane: use Plane(By select) and select the opposite plane in the last segment.
5. Reference path of spacing: check on Select Edge and select the longitudinal Master line.

6. Array Rebar
6. Go to property tab. Select Adjustable Spacing. Base spacing: 8.0 in
7. Click to array rebar over the curve library.
8. Click on the top left screen to exit Curve Library Mode
