1.0 General
1.1 Scope
Specification for Copper Nickel seamless condenser tubes

1.2 Code
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME):
Section II Part B, NonFerrous Material Specification, 2007 Edition, + 2008 Add

1.3 Material Specification : SB 111 ( UNS C70600 )

1.4 End Use : Tube

2.0 Specification & Technical Delivery Condition

2.1 The material shall strictly conform to the requirements of SB 111 & SB 111M of
ASME Section II, Part B, 2007 Edition + 2008 Add
2.2 Definitions of term relating to copper and copper alloys, refer to Terminology B846, the test
need not be performed by the producer of the material. However, should subsequent testing
by the purchaser establish that the material does not meet these requirements, the material
shall be subject to rejection.
2.3 The material shall conform to the chemical requirements specified in Table 1.
2.4 The material spcified to meet the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Code shall have tensile properties in Table 2 or Table 3.
2.5 Tube specimens seleted for test shall withstand the expansion shown in Table 4 when
expanded in accordance with Test Method B 153.
2.6 Flattening test for each test specimen shall be flattened in press at three (3) places along the
length, each new place to be rotated on its axis approximately one third turn from the last
flattened area.each flattened area shall be at least 2 in. in length. A flattened test specimen
shall allow a micrometer caliper set at three (3) times the wall thickness to pass freely over
the flattened area. The flattened area of the past test specimen shall be inspected for
surface defects.
2.7 Nondestructive testing shall be subjected to the eddy-current test in 13.1.1.

2.8 The depth of the round-bottom transverse notches and the diameters of the drilled holes in
the calibratting tube used to adjust the sensitivity of the test unit are shown in Tables 5 and
6, and Tables 7 and 8, respectively.
2.9 The diameter outside of the tubes shall not vary from that specified by more than the
amounts shown in Table 9 or Table 10 as measured by "go" and "no-go" ring gages.
2.10 Tubes ordered to NOMINAL wall
2.11 Tubes ordered at nominal wall- the maximum plus and minus deviation from the nominal
wall at any point shall not exceed the values shown in Tables 11 and 12.
2.12 Tubes length shall not less that specified when measured at a temperature of 20ºC, but
may exceed the specified value by the amounts given in Tables 13 and 14.
2.13 The purchaser shall be furnished certification that samples representing each lot have been
either tested of inspected as directed in this specification and requirements have been met.
Certification to this specification is mandatory.
2.14 Mill test report shall be specified in the contract or purchase order, a report of test results
shall be furnished.
2.15 PMI on a representative sampling basis according to GP18-12-01.
2.16 Inspection Activities and Data Requirements according to GP20-01-01
2.17 The sizes, quantity and detail shall be as per relevant PRS.
