ICT - the form of intelligence we know is being incorporated in every aspect of life. With billions of computers
and mobile phones in use and in trillions of pages on the Internet, we still see in our developing world that
services are rendered in most cases in the same fashion we received them 50 years ago. However, we buy
appliances and use them without noticing they are heavily dependent on ICT: from cars to appliances, and
from TVs to work environments.

We need to talk to our leaders to speed up the incorporation of intelligent systems into all aspects of
what they build to live better and to avoid catastrophes. We need to tell builders that their systems if
not intelligent, the life span of our assets will be diminished horrifically and if health care is not
provided on the basis of intelligent systems, we shall continue to suffer in the same manner we do
today.

As urban communities grow, there is greater demand on the city infrastructures for basic services
such as transportation, health and education and hence we need to make our cities smarter and
more efficient for better quality of life for people.
