Hello Tutor,

1. Do you agree with Krashen’s 5 hypotheses about SLA?

Yes, I do because it is important to have a significant interaction in the target language.

According to Krashen (1987) “the affective filter includes motivation, self-confidence and
anxiety”. If teachers do not motivate their students, Second Language Acquisition will not
be acquired.

2. When learning English, do you think you followed these hypotheses? Was it a
conscious process?

No, I did not. I learned English in a traditional way. I remember that my teachers only
taught me grammar rules and tenses. Consequently, I did not have the chance to produce a
suitable hypothesis of him.

3. How has your view on SLA changed (if so) after reading this text and watching
Krashen’s video?

¡Absolutely yes! It has changed the manner of how I teach more successfully. I use a lot of
activities to motivate students to speak in English. I apply many dynamic tasks to improve
the development of the new language.
