I am writing this because Paul failed to turn in his assignment. This is a personal
narrative of the life of Shurron Bernard Green. Having been born on December 23, 1961 in
Lexington, Mississippi, Shurron was raised by his grandmother, Annie Simmons in Mississippi
before leaving for Duluth, GA where he currently lives with his family. Shurron is married to
Rhoda with whom they collectively have three children from their previous marriages as well as
two grandchildren.
Shurron Bernard graduated from Lexington Attendance Center in May 1979 and continued to
grow in Mississippi during the time of Jim Crow Law. He studied in a High School where the
White High carried the distinction. However, he developed passion in sports and was mostly
involved in playing Basketball, Baseball, Track, as well as playing the Alto and the Baritone
After completing High School, Shurron first joined the United States Marine Corps and
underwent rigorous training in a boot camp in the Paris Island located in South Carolina’s
Platoon 3032. At the Marine Corps, Shurron was first engaged as an Okinawa and attached to
Japan to help in fast tracking of Vehicle Battalion. After the Okinawa, Japan engagement,
Shurron was then posted to work as the 4 th Marine Division, in New Orleans, La until the end of
his three-year enlistment. He then returned home and embarked on his college education and

eventually graduated from Alcorn State University. Shurron then moved to Atlanta where he has
Shurron is currently working as a Lieutenant with the Fulton County Schools Police
Department after having worked for the Georgia State Trooper. While working as a Trooper in
Georgia, Shurron was assigned in different posts such as Post 32, in Lawrenceville, Post 47 in
Forest Park and Post 9 in Marietta. Shurron also have the privilege to have served for two years
as a Police Trainer in Afghanistan where his role was embedded with the army. Shurron also
trained Afghanistan District and National Police and is currently one of the several ministers and
evangelists at the Friendship Baptist Church in Duluth, GA. For a significant period, Shurron has
worked under Pastor Ronald L. Bowens and continue to enjoy the company of his wife, children
and grandchildren at home. While off-duty, Shurron enjoys cooking on the Grill for his family
