Video guidelines for students at CSSTEAP

Background: Country-needs driven capacity building is fully aligned with the ESCAP’s Regional Roadmap
for Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific. It has been
identified by countries as the priority in implementing the Asia-Pacific Plan of Action on Space
Applications for Sustainable Development (2018-2030). With the support of India and Thailand, ESCAP
has facilitated the participation of six officials from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia,
Myanmar and Sri Lanka to join a 9-month training course on remote sensing, GIS, and the Global
Navigation Satellite Systems at Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia Pacific
(CSSTEAP), Dehradun, India, from 1 July 2019.

Purpose of the Videos: Capture the perspectives, needs, and hopes of engaged young
practitioners/officials. The video clips may be highlighted on our website, edited clips compiled as part
of a longer video, shared at trainings, events, etc.

Timing: 30 seconds to 3 minutes. You do not need to fill the full three minutes if you only would like to
speak for one minute that is completely fine.

Video content:

First introduce yourself with your name, country and the institution you work for.

Some guiding questions: (you do not have to answer all of these questions, but you can use them as a
guide or speak on another relevant point that is important to you)

1. What are your suggestions to ESCAP in the implementation of the Asia-Pacific Plan of Action on
Space Applications for Sustainable Development (2018-2030) (Infograph)
a. Are there examples of implementation of this Plan of Action in your institution/ country you
would like to share?
b. What specific challenges or needs exist for your country and in which area?
c. This plan is made for and by the countries, so your input is very valuable

2. What are your future plans when you return to your country? Are there specific ways or projects
that you would like to implement to utilize the knowledge you’ve gained at CSSTEAP? What do you
need from ESCAP, CSSTEAP to make this happen?
3. Do you have feedback regarding the course or experience in CSSTEAP?

You may speak in your native language and we will subtitle the video in English once it is received

Location/background: Please choose a location where you are comfortable. Test that the phone or
camera works to pick up your voice clearly without background noises. This might require the person
filming you to be relatively close. Check that the light is not coming behind you, but behind the
camera/phone so that your face is well lit. If there is a scenic background outside, neat indoor space, in
front of a meaningful place or logo. This could include at a field visit to a relevant location.
