In today’s technological world, there is no escaping the smartphone phenomenon. The average person
uses their smartphone anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a day. Most people are even checking their phones
every 15 to 20 minutes while they’re awake. The ways in which smartphones have become such an
essential part of modern life is staggering, and something to be aware of when teaching in a classroom.

Smartphones can be both a great educational tool and a great distraction in the classroom. It should
come as no surprise that almost every child in the US owns or has access to a smartphone. Statistics
show that 56 percent of children age 8 to 12 have a smartphone. That number jumps up to 88 percent
of teenager’s ages 13 to 17 have or have access to a smartphone. And a whopping 91 percent of middle
and high school aged students primarily access the internet via their smartphones.

This change in the way we interact with technology and integrate it into our lives has come dramatically
and fast. It’s sometimes hard for teachers, many of whom grew up in an era with no mobile phones or
even the internet, to adapt to this fast-paced technological generation. While smartphones can easily be
the downfall of your students’ attention spans and performance, they don’t have to be. More

and more educators these days are incorporating modern technology and students’ own smartphones
into their classroom to engage and excite students about learning.

Discussions about children and new technologies have become increasingly polarized. On one side are
people who might be called techno-enthusiasts. They tend to get excited about the possibilities of
almost all new technologies— the newer, the better. On the other side are people who might be called
techno-skeptics. They worry about the negative impacts of new technologies, and they prefer that
children spend more time with traditional toys and outdoor play and less time on screens.

Gadgets are devices that are used by people to make their life easier, they use it for education, works,

documentary about how those gadgets effects the learning behavior of the students. The research study
is presented by 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. To enlighten every
student what are the effects that may cause something on their learning behavior while using different
gadgets while studying.

smartphone. A new high tech gadget that profounds a simpler and easier way in applying to futher use

Though nowadays it seems to have evolve into something new and by the looks of it..it conducts a

 Technology should not replace teachers. Its main use is to enable students learn better
through increasing their engagement in educational activities.
 Technology is not having cool ipads or expensive gadgets; it is about the learning
process. Technology has to improve the learning process and aim at improving student’s
grades.
 Technology has to facilitate and stimulate individual learning. Students should use
technology to learn on their own with limited help from teachers.

Is it time for radical change of our school systems?

In today’s modern era, change is essential for the many. As to An average person, they use their
smartphone anywhere at most in every minute. Most people are even checking their phones every 15 to
20 minutes in which smartphones have become such an essential part of modern life. Remember the
traditional boards? Well now they use whiteboards and markers for easier use. How about the new and
improved smartphones? Somehow children uses these high tech devices rather the use of textbooks,
pens and photocopied sheets are still likely unrecognizable.

Smartphones can be both a great educational tool and it can be a great distraction in the
classroom too. Though in a study at Oklahoma State University, researchers found that 75 percent of
students said the use of gadgets enhanced their learning experience. And in some other universities
outside our country, gadgets are essential for students using iPads, it performed better in math
compared to students using traditional textbooks. This change in the way we interact with technology
and integrate it into our lives has come dramatically and fast. Despite the fears of parents and some
teachers that gadgets may distract students, surveys and studies have shown that generally, these
technological tools are a big help in learning.
