Task 1 - Read a Text

Instructions: You have 30 seconds to prepare. Then, read the paragraph aloud in 45 seconds.

400 million people around the world speak English as their first language. Not only that, but English is
listed as one of the official languages in more than a quarter of the countries in the world. Companies are
becoming more international, and English is listed as an essential skill for more and more jobs. There are
some organizations that now conduct all their business in English, no matter where in the world they are
based. Lastly, English is the international language of media and arts and so, if you want to access as much as
possible for yourself, without relying on translations, it’s the most powerful language you can learn today.

Task 2 - Describe the Picture

Instructions: Describe the picture in as many words as you can say. You have 30 seconds to prepare and 45
seconds to answer.

Task 3 - Question and Answer


Answer the questions immediately. There is no preparation time.
A surveyor is asking information about the following questions.
1. What is the most difficult thing about learning English?
2. What is the best way to learn a language?
Task 4 - Expressing Your Opinion

You have 30 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to explain you answer.

Many people nowadays want to learn more than two languages. Is it important to know many
languages?
