    DISSERTATION :

    TOPIC OF MY PROJECT: WOODEN ARCHITECTURE USING LOCALLY AVAILABLE


    WOOD

    PURPOSE OF MY STUDY: Building wooden structure using the locally available wood. The
    advantages of the wood are that they are light weight, thermostatic, low in price, locally available
    materials reduce transport cost, if needed can be reassembled in another place.

    OBJECTIVES OF MY STUDY: The main objectives of my study are:

     To thoroughly know about the properties of the wooden materials.


     To know the techniques of implementing it as a building material.
     To overcome the challenges faced in implementing the material – termites and fire control,
    water resistance, processing and workmanship.

    RESULT OF MY STUDY: As a result of this dissertation , I would be completely capable to


    Practically implement the idea of using ‘locally available wood ‘ as a sustainable material and my
    studies would help many people to look for alternative budget solutions for building materials that are
    sustainable as well as lower in cost.

    POTENTIAL CASE STUDY:

     Case study – using pine wood -Tycoon Resort, Andipatti and Vels farms , Kodaikanal
     Case study – using betel tree – house by Mr. George , Wayanad , Kerela
     Case study – using Red Cedar – house constructed by Mr. Ganesan, Adalur.
