Different Strategies during the Indian Freedom Struggle and AtmaNirbhar Bharat

1857 – First War of Independence

1885 – Indian National Congress is formed.

1892 - Bal Gangadhar Tilak revived the festival brought the festival into the streets of Pune
when the British banned public gatherings.

1907 – Congress splits into Moderates & Extremists.

1914 – Gandhiji returns to India from South Africa.

1916 – Indian Home Rule League founded by Tilak with its headquarters in Pune.

1916 – Another Home Rule league started by Annie Besant. Why?

1928 - Bardoli Satyagraha of Gujrat farmers against indiscriminate increase of Tax. British
govt was forced to withdraw the tax imposed to earlier rate. The success of this movement
led to many more agitations across the country. Farmers of Bardoli gave the title of Sardar to
Vallabh Bhai Patel.

Legacy of Lal – Bal – Pal: (extremists) The Legendary Trio stood for Swaraj & Swadeshi
Ideals! All the three from three different parts of Bharat.

1930 – Dandi March by Gandhiji against the salt tax.

1938 – Subhash Bose elected President of Congress.

1939 – Bose resigns from Congress on the differences on the policies of Congress towards
British.

1939 – India was forced to participate in the WWII.

1942 – Savarkar asks Indians to enlist into British Indian Army so that with that training they
can join INA of Subhash Bose.

1943 – Subhas Bose announced the formation of the Provisional Govt of Azad Hind (free
India) recognized by 7 countries.

1944 – In January, the Azad Hind Fauj captured Imphal and Arakan.
1965 – AtmaNirbhar Bharat - During 1965 war with Pakistan, there was acute shortage of
food. Adding to the woes, the US threatened to cut supplies of wheat if India didn't stop the
war. At that time, India used to import wheat. Undeterred by the US's warning, Shastri ji
adopted a new method. He asked his family to skip dinner for a day as he wanted to know
how would countrymen feel to forgo one meal a day. Next day addressing countrymen on
AIR, he asked people to go without one meal at least once a week. Even all eateries abided
by his words for next few weeks. 

2020 – AtmaNirbhar Bharat - Prime Minister Modi further urged the citizens to buy
and promote local products and brands. He stated that global brands were once
local too but when people started supporting them, the brands became global.
He laid stress on becoming vocal for the local.
