Dear 3rd Grade families,

Here is the upcoming agenda for the dates 8/20-8/28. Please log into your OLS (online learning system) to access
Blackboard. When you click the Class Connect sessions, you will need to open it and run the application. The class will be
open at the time listed in the OLS.

First Days of School- What do I do?

Our goals:

 We can log into the OLS successfully!


 We can use the Blackboard tools.
 We can attend parent and student orientations and learn more about CAVA expectations.
 We can troubleshoot technology challenges and take a mindful moment to breathe. 😊

8/20 9AM parent orientation – Learning Coaches (LCs) please attend


10AM student orientations (students with last name A-M)
11AM student orientation (students with last name N-Z)
12PM Read Aloud (all students and LCs attend)

8/21 9AM optional makeup parent orientation


10AM optional makeup student orientation

STAR 360 – What is it?

This week, you will be placed into a smaller group for your student to take the STAR 360 math and ELA tests. You will
receive another email with what group you are in, as well as the testing dates and times. Please be on the lookout for
this email because it will contain the username and password you will need to log in on your assigned day and time.

Group 1 Monday 11-12 math


Wednesday 11-12 ELA

Group 2 Monday 1-2 math


Wednesday 1-2 ELA

Group 3 Tuesday 11-12 math


Thursday 1-2 ELA

Group 4***** Tuesday 1-2 math


Please note the time for Thursday is different. Thursday 2-3 ELA ****

STAR 360- RULES TO REVIEW BEFORE NEXT WEEK

You, the LC (learning coach) should follow these guidelines to ensure that the results are an accurate reflection of the
student and their current abilities.

CAN CAN’T
Help the student use their username and password and Help answer any questions
log in
Read any questions out loud

Help your student answer any of the test in any way.

Mindful Moment- What is this?

Just a reminder to stop and take some deep, calm breaths. I will be reminding students (and myself!) that taking a
breath is a great way to take care of ourselves when we are feeling stressed or anxious.
