Vernon and Jones (2007) stated that the students learn best and behave more appropriately in
classroom setting that meet the learning needs. Student’s misbehavior and failure can be traced to
create the educational environment conducive to learning. Educators have also a begun to appreciate

According to Minds (2000), Asian studies have broader range. Social learning and content of social
studies as well as classroom community and civic responsibility are equally intertwined. Self-
development is included in the social studies process. As we grow, our experience influences our
character and social behavior and values. Thus social studies become an avenue for developing
appropriate behavior.
Asian studies are the development of understanding with consists of knowledge and fact about
how people live and work. It has to do with the ideals, appreciation and values, the development of
loyalty and feelings of pride towards one country. In here we use maps, chants, graph and special words
contain in a book that do not have importance to those who do not know how to read or use it, other
skills include thinking critically about different topics. (The New Books of knowledge, 2001)
The primary purpose of Asian studies is to help young people develop the ability to make
informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic
society in an interdependent world. (NCSS Task Force on Standards for Teaching and Learning in the
For Rhobin (2011), Interest is a fascination and amusement to do anything. It is one attitude of a
person should be maintained throughout the learning period. It is a feeling that creates excitement in
anything within him that causes him to give his full attention concerns, curiosity and focus to perform
actively. It does not cause of environment influence that’s why action take place.
According to Mando (2003), the students that are interested with the teaching strategies of the
subject interest Social studies will develop the student’s attitude towards the subject or the innovations
may arouse the interest of the students to become dynamic in the learning subject. The strategies of
teacher make the learning enjoy and their interest with the subject boosted.
There are many things that that students take with them to school that teachers can do little
about. Unfortunately, some teachers attend only in this aspect of their students, and such attention is
mostly unproductive. It true that students need some motivation in studying the subject they likely to
pay attention to information that pertains to their interest. Experiential learning is essential way of
acquiring knowledge or skills, based on assumption that students learn best when personally involved
in learning activity.
According to Ricaroma (2003) stated that the development of instructional materials provide
diverse opportunities to enhance the learning experiences of the students. With higher education
Villaverde (2003) in her study, pointed out that instructional materials provide the methods of
individualizing instruction and developing students responsibility they permit individual pacing so that
pupils may learn at rate at which they are to master the materials . Instructional materials
can de designed and develop so that pupils level become suitable to them and could work to the
resources materials containing concepts and knowledge that are appropriate to their abilities and
experiences.
According to Ganguli (2004), stated that instructional materials are aids in teaching that help the
teacher to maintain pupils interest in the classroom discussion and that these materials helps the pupils
to understand and retain the meaning of word better than when they see or touch the object associated
within it.
Muijs (2000) explained instructional materials should have various interesting activities which
enhance student’s capabilities and needs; these must be interesting relevant and interactive that should
Instructional materials are very much needed to facilitate learning, according to Acero (2007) as cited
by Diala (2010) learning is enhance and made effective through proper selection of instructional
approaches and methods. Teacher select the best approach which will work well for her students she
employs variety of approaches and find out what best fits her personal style. She stated that the major
consideration in the choice of instructional tools is meeting the need of a learning situation is to ensure
In addition bradly (2002) mentioned that in the development of instructional materials there will
be a chance of providing various opportunities to elevate the learning experience of the students with
higher education aiming a student centered rather that the teacher centered, it is said to be an
extraordinary era in teaching. Teaching to be effective must be enjoyable, this will be possible with the
help of various media like televisions, films and computer- aided instruction.
Computer and electronics learning activities also allowed students to have more access of
information’s and motivated them to inquire and to learn more facts. Canlas Callang (2003) indicated
that “Educating towards Global Competitiveness has a place in the Philippines milieu.
Global education fuses learning with work and recreation. This means learning must not be
boring or unexciting. Perceptual learning implies that activities must be lifelong quality to them and
only of empirical value. That learning is distributed means every level, every area has a share in these
materials. Interactively and connectivity are qualities that makes learning interesting and meaningful
gone are the days of passive learner. Above all, knowledge sharing is easily done with internet, fax
As stated by Abadecio and Meores (2008) teaching using traditional tools may no longer be
effective and appropriate for the modern era, thus it is necessary for all the educators to modify the
Trowbrige (2002) says that many teaching aids are available: it helps to consider their purpose
Teaching aids stimulates student’s senses: they frequently activate the avenues of the learning
involving sight, sound, touch smell and taste. It also maintains student’s interest. it becomes less
fatiguing when variety of teaching aids provides opportunities for frequent changes of pace which are
particularly useful in the middle school teaching. Specific materials designed for specific learning task
The use of instructional materials is very important on the part of the teacher as well as for the
pupils, it plays significant role in forming child behavior and give opportunities to students to enhance
their learning and elevate their learning experiences, that’s why different instructional materials are
being developed also to improved quality of education fitted for the modern learner in the 21st century.
Clark and Meyer (2011) indicated that “Computer is one of the media most flexible media
option, as they support media elements texts, graphics, (still animated) and audio. Computers offer for
unique engagement with stimulations r with highly immersive environment that in some cases would be
possible to replicate outside the digital environment. It also offers multi- lateral channel that
William (2000) stated that e-learning activities are the verbs of learning. They put people in
action. They elevate learning from passive reading and watching to active seeking, selecting, and
creating knowledge. With well-designed learning activities, e-learning can be fun, efficient, and highly
effective.
Francis (2003) stated that e- learning activities are the verbs of learning. They put people in
action. They elevate learning from passive reading and watching to active seeking, selecting and
creating knowledge. With well- designed learning activities, e-learning can be fun, efficient and highly
effective.
Oliver (2001) stated that E-learning Activities provide the purpose and context for learners to
make meaning from the content of a unit or course. They are the vehicle through which learning occurs.
Learning activities need to be: a.) active and engaging; b.) encourage cooperation and collaboration;
Kemp et al. (2000) states the following advantage and characteristics of e- learning activities.
a.)Produces content that is easily deployed may include complex interactions, high band width content.
b.)Learners may meet their level of knowledge and interest. c.)Successfully builds self-knowledge and
self-confidence and encourages students to take responsibility for their learning. d.) Developed multiple
ways of representing the information, to simulate interactions and expressing ideas. e.) Leading to a
major availability of anyone to reach information. f.)Teachers reach new expectations by trying to
present the content of activities. g.) Allow the teachers to present the information in various and
attractive way.
Saez (2004) cited that the computer aided instruction has been proven as one of the effective
tools in teaching- learning process, it is easier to use and more effective in teaching basic skills, as well
as in the development of higher order thinking skills the computer well continue to play a vital role in
education.
