PLASTIC POLUTION IS A PROBLEM ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Each year at least 8 million tones of plastic find their way into the ocean, to put it in
perspective which is equivalent to dumping one full truck load into the ocean every
minute.

Sealife, birds die by eating and by getting entangling into it , to make the problem worse
it also enters our food chain , after getting broken down into smaller pieces.

A study finds that only 14% of all the plastic used for packaging are being collected for
recycling and the rest are used only once and are thrown away.

So why do we need to break our heads on this as there are better alternatives like paper
bags , bio degradable bags etc. to enlighten you, let us share some facts on the said
alternatives, the so called paper bags consume 40% more energy to produce than the
regular plastic bags, The solid waste management of paper bags is an eye-popping 80%
more than the plastic bags as they are heavier. It also takes 91% less energy to recycle a
kilo of plastic than the kilo of paper bags. A study also shows paper bags also generate
70% more air pollution & 50% more water contamination. The paper bags also take up
more landfill spaces.

let us familiarize you with the main motto of getting into this project: Reduce the
dependency of plastics; as we all know that they aren’t bio-degradable, Star online has
rated Malaysia has been one of the top countries whose plastic pollution problem is
worse.

Solution:

We have come up with; what we call as a true GREEN CARRY, what’s true about it? Let’s
shed some light on it as we move on.

So to help our ailing country with this plastic menace, our school is introducing
something which is truly decomposable & 100 % bio-degradable plastic bags called
GREEN CARRY/ NATURE PACKS.

The beauty of this green carry is the ingredients itself, which are used to make it. To
elaborate on the point; we use the left over skins of fruits & vegetable in making these,
which are truly decomposable.

These fruits& vegetable skin make it all the more interesting as the degrading time for
the bag when left in the environment is well with in 15-20 days & it doesn’t do any harm
to the environment.
