Background:

Gulf Air expirenced a high number of unscheduled removal of Skin Air Inlet/Outlet Valve,
post review of shop finding report, one of main finding was due to high contamination of
dust and sands, subsequently caused jamming or resisitant to valve internal mechanism.

In scope of improving Skin Air Inlet/Outlet Valve (SAIV/SAOV) relaliblity, Airbus proposed
applicatition of prevenetive maintanenance practice during sand storm and long ground time.

Maintenance Advice:

Use of ditching button to close SAIV/SAOV [AMM Task 21-26-00-860-002] in sand storm
condition and during extended long night/day ground time or even during maintenance stop.
This procedures aim to protect the avionics ventilation against dust accumaulation.
