Autopsy After Alleged Jail Suicide

This death hits right at home as it took place in Texas. On July 13 th, 2015 an African-American named
Sandra Bland tragically committed suicide in a Texas jail. After only 3 days in police custody, she was
found dead due to asphyxiation from a plastic bag. A video surfaced on YouTube showing the events
that unfolded when Bland was arrested. It consisted of Bland yelling at the officers that they were
beating her and even applauding the person who was taking the video. The family is now demanding a
private autopsy of Bland and wants answers to why Bland had to commit suicide. The autopsy should be
done within 48 to 72 hours and will reveal the answer to many of the family’s questions. Like many
other cases before this, this is another example of police brutality and racist white police.

When the results of the autopsy is released to the public, there may as well be another Ferguson
Incident. The dream of exterminating racism, (which wouldn’t happen anyways ever), would even
farther away. This is relating to the “character of cities – employment patterns, social (ethnic and
economic) patterns,” the social patterns of white police in the US. And “cities and urban land use,” a
term in that topic that says that the city is rundown and corrupt e.g. corrupt/racist police.
