AHLI FARMASI SEBAGAI PROFESYEN: TASK 1

1.What is civil service?

The body of government which are employed in civil occupations excluding


politicial and judicial.They are impartially implement the laws and policies of
goverment. The civil service employees also usually work in areas that highly
affect people’s everyday life likes health and education department.

2.What are the differences between the roles of pharmacist in Pharmaceutical


Services Division and in National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency?

PHARMACIST IN PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES DIVISION:


-Secretariat for Lembaga Farmasi Malaysia, Lembaga Iklan Ubat and
Lembaga Racun.
-Proposes and implements policies for pharmaceutical services in Malaysia
-Plans for manpower requirements
-Administration of pharmacist and pharmaceutical services in Pharmaceutical
Services Division (MOH).

NATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL REGULATORY AGENCY:


-Implement the drug registration and cosmetic notification scheme through
evaluation of technical data, laboratory analysis, research and information
received from international agencies.
-Implement the licensing scheme for pharmaceutical manufacturers, importers
and wholesalers including a licensing scheme for clinical trial.
-Carry out research on methodology and basic research for the purpose of
evaluating quality, efficacy and safety of drugs and cosmetics.

3.Discuss the issues related to pharmacist profession in Malaysian civil


service.

One of the issues in pharmacist profession is there is no longer guarantee for


fresh graduated in degree of pharmacy to work under government
hospital.There only provide two years for fresh pharmacist out there that are
one year of practical to complete their PRP and one year for working as FRP in
that government hospital.This is one of government alternative to decrease
the problem of long waiting for fresh graduate to complete their PRP in
government hospital.After that two years working there, they must compete
each other and do their best during PRP or during working there to make sure
the authorities in the hospital want to hire them for years futher.For pharmacist
out there who are don’t want to be hire under government, they either apply for
private hospital or chosing another path way instead of working in the hospital.
