On an interview De lima said President Duterte should have vetted the information he got
before talking about on public. And she also said that she did not expect President Duterte to
resort to “character assassination” – abs-cbn news

However, for the first time in months after President Rodrigo Duterte branded De lima was
an immoral woman for having an affair with her driver, Ronnie Dayan, for a few years. When
asked why she fell for Dayan, De Lima said it is due to “frailties of a woman”.

“We became so close that’s it because I trusted him and siyempre naano po ang loob ko” she
said in an interview with GMA-7’s “ Bawal ang Pasaway kay Mareng Winnie” show which
aired on Monday evening.

President Duterte earlier claimed that the senator gave Dayan an authority to allow
contrabands and other privileges inside the penitentiary. He also said Dayan receives money
from the inmates to fund De Lima’s campaign, and receives money and was given a house by
the senator.

However, in the same interview, De Lima denied these allegations saying she helped Dayan
with finances but not to the point of giving him a house. – Philippine star newspaper
