2 HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Dry powder with little or no odor. Will not burn or react. May oxidize if exposed to heat above 50C (122F) causing additional heat that may
be sufficient to cause packaging to smolder or ignite. Packaging material can burn or melt in fire, producing toxic smoke and fumes.
HUMAN HEALTH
Long-term inhalation can cause lung irritation or fibrosis.
3 COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS
COMPOSITION COMMENTS
Black Iron Oxide, Fe3O4 / C.I. Pigment Black 11 : Alternative CAS No. 12227-89-3, Alternative EINECS No. 235-442-5
4 FIRST-AID MEASURES
INHALATION
No specific treatment is necessary since this material is not likely to be hazardous by inhalation. If exposed to excessive levels of dusts or
fumes, remove to fresh air and get medical attention if cough or other symptoms develop.

INGESTION
Swallowing a small amount will not cause significant harm. For larger amounts, do not induce vomiting, but give one or two glasses of
water to drink and get medical attention.
SKIN CONTACT
Wash with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation develops or persists.
EYE CONTACT
Immediately flush with plenty of water for up to 15 minutes. Remove any contact lenses and open eyes wide apart. Continue to rinse for at
least 15 minutes. Contact physician if irritation persists.
5 FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
This product is not flammable. Use fire-extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding materials. Fire can be extinguished using: Water
spray, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide.
SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES
No specific fire fighting procedure given.
UNUSUAL FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS
Exposure to heat greater than 50C (122F) may cause this product to oxidize which can generate more heat. This heat may be sufficient to
cause the product packaging or nearby combustible materials to ignite. The product may be quenched with water to stop the oxidation.
PROTECTIVE MEASURES IN FIRE
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus as combustion may produce hazardous fumes.
FLAMMABILITY CLASS
No Uniform Fire Code noted.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS
Avoid contaminating public drains or water supply.
SPILL CLEAN UP METHODS
Vacuum or sweep up material and place in a disposal container. If dust is generated, use appropriate respiratory protection Avoid
generation and spreading of dust. Wear necessary protective equipment. Avoid runoff into storm sewers and ditches which lead to
waterways. For Large Spillages: For waste disposal, see section 13.
HANDLING
Avoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin and eyes. Wash thoroughly after handling. Minimize dust generation and accumulation. For
pallets wrapped in polyethylene plastic, removal may cause an electrostatic spark; removal of the wrap should not be done in the
presence of flammable vapours.
STORAGE
Store dry at ambient temperature away from food and beverages, excessive heat or flame sources (furnace, kilns, boilers etc.). Store
away from substances subject to catalytic decomposition by dust, e.g. peroxides Do not store near combustible materials. Storage
temperature should not exceed 55C (130F). Keep separate from substances subject to catalytic decomposition by dust, e.g. peroxides.
Storage temperature should not exceed 50C (122F). Store dry at ambient temperature away from food, beverage, excessive heat,
sources of flame.

ENGINEERING MEASURES
Provide adequate ventilation. Observe Occupational Exposure Limits and minimize the risk of inhalation of dust.
RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT
No specific recommendation made, but respiratory protection must be used if airborne concentration exceeds the Recommended
Occupational Exposure Limit (TWA or STEL - See table above). Use respiratory equipment with particle filter, type P1.
HAND PROTECTION
No specific hand protection noted, but gloves may still be advisable. PVC or rubber gloves are recommended.
EYE PROTECTION
Wear approved safety goggles.
OTHER PROTECTION
Provide eyewash station and safety shower.
HYGIENE MEASURES
No specific hygiene procedures noted, but good personal hygiene practices are always advisable, especially when working with
chemicals. Wash hands at the end of each work shift and before eating, smoking and using the toilet.
STABILITY
Exposure to heat greater than 50C (122F) can cause this product to slowly auto-oxidize, which generates additional heat. Under certain
circumstances, this heat may be sufficient to cause the bag or combustible materials stored nearby to ignite. Once oxidized, the material
will be a brown ferric oxide (Fe2O3).
CONDITIONS TO AVOID
Avoid heat.
HAZARDOUS POLYMERISATION
Not relevant
MATERIALS TO AVOID
No incompatible groups noted.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS
No hazardous decomposition products.

13 DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
WASTE MANAGEMENT
When handling waste, consideration should be made to the safety precautions applying to handling of the product. Refer to Section 7.
DISPOSAL METHODS
Material which cannot be re-used should be disposed of in accordance with federal, state and local environmental control regulations at an
authorized site by an approved contractor. This product when discarded as sold is not an RCRA hazardous waste. However, under RCRA,
it is the responsibility of the product user to determine at the time of disposal, whether a material containing the product or derived from the
product should be classified as a hazardous waste. (40CFR261.20-24)
