Lightning Surge Protection - The main important criteria:

1. Evolution ODU and IFU has integrated surge protection circuits at the entrance of coax connectors
2. The ODU must be grounded to tower structure
3. The coax cable ODU-IFU must be grounded to tower structure at the lowest point, on the vertical run in
tower, before the bending towards building.
4. Ensure that all groundings are connected to same network (equal potential)
5. Tower structure must be grounded to a quality site earthing network.

Nera standard installation practice is based on the above criteria and requires no extra protection.

Optional Protection:
Customers may have better knowledge of the status on actual site and may require additional
protection.

1. Surge arrestor at building cable entrance. (Extra set of cable connectors are needed)
2. The wall mounting plate for surge arrestor must be grounded outdoor, to the building / site earthing
network. The wall plate is generally the standard feed-through plate of the building. Hole dimension for
surge arrestor is found on data sheet.

Optional arrangement for surge arrestor:

Surge Arrestor AN-APG-BNFNF-350 (for N-connections only)

Two additional N-connectors, male, straight. (For the actual If cable)
If the cable is AN-CNT-400 (in kit UWMH6506-100/200) the connector code is AN-400APNM-C
