Ruggero Chiesa
The polyphonic potential of the guitar has always favored the formation of chords, from the very
first years of study. Of their reany possible combinations, itis unquestionably important to gain ¢
thorough knowledge of the more elementary chords of classical barmony, which recur so frequently in
the guiter literature. I bave therefore limited the selection of chards ta the cadential groups that ure Poe
LVEIVVL progression in the bass. These will be presented in all the major and minor keys, each in
‘100 versions, he first of which calls for execution as a chord (with each series of cadences developed in
four positions) and the second arpeggiated,
The tno bands will thus be engaged in entirely different tasks, equally uscful forthe development
of an effective technique and, most intportant, equally often encountered in performance practice. We
reconenrend progressive study, starting with the easiest keys and maintaining a moderate temo.
