Premature rupture of membranes in pregnancy is the most common. One of the causes of
premature rupture of membranes is the thinning of the chorioamnionic membrane caused by
collagen degradation and biochemical processes where abnormalities in the structure of the
amniotic sac. This change in the structure of the amniotic sac is due to a deficiency of
micronutrients, especially vitamin C, so that pregnant women with premature rupture of
membranes have less or younger blood plasma vitamin C levels without premature rupture of
membranes. The aim of this study was to prevent vitamin C and prevent premature rupture of
membranes. The research method is to use the literature study method by collecting secondary
data in the form of journals and books that are relevant to the titles discussed. Then do a
content analysis (content), namely reviewing the contents of the journal that has been selected.
The journals used are 7 journals consisting of 4 national journals and 3 international journals.
From this literature study, the results show that the blood plasma vitamin C of pregnant women
with premature rupture of membranes is more than the plasma vitamin vitamin for amniotic
membrane, collagen structure and overcoming reactive oxygen species (ROS) that causes
premature rupture of membranes, the dose of vitamin C is started since pregnancy 14 - 18
weeks with doses given in the range 400-500mg/day. Based on the results of this literature
study, it can be denied that vitamin C is proven to be effective in preventing premature rupture
of membranes because from the 7 journals discussed there are 4 journals that state the
contribution of vitamin C to the prevention of premature rupture of membranes.
Keywords: vitamin C, premature rupture of membranes
