Task Description:
Overview #58;The Think Africa Partnership is a multi-partnership fund administered by the Africa Office of
the Chief Economist (AFRCE). The Partnership works to enhance knowledge uptake in economic policy
matters among African governments. It does so by supporting the work of Africa scholars, policy institutes,
and government chief economists. The Think Africa Partnership prioritizes activities that promote
collaborative research, peer-based capacity support, and policy dialogue. Overall, the Partnership is an
African-centered initiative to better equip African researchers, institutions, and advisors with the tools,
knowledge, and network to better address development challenges with home-owned solutions. The Africa
Chief Economist’s Office is seeking a program coordinator who will be responsible for program management
and partnership support for the Think Africa Partnership. The program coordinator is expected to carry out a
full range of operational, programmatic, and administrative functions associated with the Think Africa
Partnership. The program coordinator will work with James Cust, Program Manager for the Think Africa
Partnership. The program coordinator will be based in Washington, DC.Duties and Responsibilities #58;The
program coordinator’s duties and responsibilities will include #58;Program CoordinationCoordinate and
contribute to activities across the Think Africa Partnership, including events, capacity building, technical
assistance, partnerships, and research;Coordinate and contribute to the drafting of project documents
including activity planning, budgets, results frameworks, and other;Provide general support to the Program
Manager including interviews with stakeholders, event organization and other partnership and
communication activities;Program Support Coordinate schedules of activities concerning to the unit’s work
program, monitor changes, and communicate the information to appropriate staff, and
counterparts.Coordinate meeting schedules with internal and external clients and partners.Maintain current
distribution lists, phone/address lists of project/product contacts, and distribute documents for the
team.Maintain up-to-date unit files (both paper and electronic).Draft routine correspondence and
edit/proofread materials. Draft and/or assist with translation of routine correspondence and edit/proofread
reports and other materials. Qualifications #58;Minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s
degree is advantageous.Minimum 3 years of work experience, ideally with project management and
coordination responsibilities. Fluency in professional French and English, additional ability in Spanish and/or
Portuguese is advantageous but not a requirement.Knowledge of World Bank organizational structure,
policies, processes, and procedures would be advantageous. Excellent written and verbal communication
skills, ability to prepare professional correspondence for both internal and external audiences.Strong oral
and written communication skills, in both English and French; ability to provide routine oral translation
services and to draft/translate documents in both languages. Excellent knowledge and experience working
with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and other systems relevant to the
functional area.Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize assignments when working on multiple
assignments, and deliver high-quality work under pressure and tight deadlines, with minimal supervision.
The program coordinator will report to the Think Africa Partnership Program Manager, James Cust (AFRCE).
The assignment will begin in as soon as possible. The initial contract would be for a total of 150 working days.
