Report:

1. Describe the use of a digital multimeter and analog ammeter in your own
language. Also mention about the connection system.

Ans: A digital multimeter is a check tool used to measure two or more electrical
values—principally voltage (volts), current (amps), and resistance (ohms). It's a
standard tool for technicians in the electrical industries.

Digital ammeters are devices that measure current movement in amperes and show
current ranges on a digital display. These devices provide details about current draw
and current continuity with a view to help users troubleshoot erratic loads and trends.

Digital multimeter is a combination of voltmeter, ammeter, and Ohmmeter. So, by the

digital multimeter, we can measure voltage, current flow, and resistance.
An analog ammeter measures the current that flows between its terminals. Ammeter is
always situated in a series circuit with a circuit element.
2. What problem might happen if you connect an ammeter in parallel to the
voltage source? Again, can we measure the current through a resistor by
connecting the ammeter across the resistor? Explain in your own language.

Ans: In case we connect an ammeter in parallel to the voltage source, It might destroy
the ammeter and even the source and circuit. Because an ammeter has zero
resistance. So, when we join an ammeter in parallel as we all know that current at all
times follows a low resistance path, the utmost amount of current will follow via the
ammeter which in flip will damage the ammeter and supply also.

Yes, we can measure the current via a resistor by connecting the ammeter across the
resistor. Because we can connect ammeter after the resistor or before the resistor, the
value of the ammeter will be the same, because the resistor won’t affect the current
flow in a series condition. So you can connect the ammeter in any way.
