THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

Rationale of the Study

Academic stress is a crucial problem of a student life in the present scenario. Our

education system has loaded the student with a variety of pressures such as vast curriculum,

examination fear; neck-to-neck competitions etc. peer and parental pressure add to tons of their

problem. The findings of doctors, psychotherapist and child psychologist reveal that students’

especially secondary school students experience anxiety, stress and depression due to academic

pressure and excessive academic pressure is associated with deliberate self-harm and even

suicides. Hence the researchers opted this study to find out better solutions, provide guidance and

plan strategies for teachers, parents and students in order to help them cope with academic stress.

Additionally, there are multiple variables that correlates to a student’s stress level.

Factors such as the teachers, peers, time management, infrastructure (or the need of it), parents or

relatives, exams or tests. Every so often it also involves the students themselves.

The reason for why the researchers chose this study is because individuals must be more

aware about what stresses students, in order for them to feel unstressed in their high school years.

Recommendations

Based on the findings and conclusions, these are some of the recommendation that future

researchers can look into to further expound on the study:

1. The researchers recommend to held the “English campaign” in San Roque College de

Cebu every school year so that the students will improve their English grammar and their

English speaking and their grades in English

2. The use of “English Campaign” is to help the students. The researchers recommend to

have more teachers to teach more basic English to highly advanced English lessons.

3. Research Methodology

4. I. Research Instrument

5. A checklist type questionnaire was used in surveying the respondents for the research:

6. “Factors affecting the Stress levels among the High School students”.

However, for the senior high school department, 2 males and 2 females were picked for

the 12th grade.

study. The researchers conducted the survey by handing out standardized questionnaires

to the respondents.
