SHABRI’s Help to Rama

Anvi Namaste to all, Am Anvi here. Today we are going to narrate about Shabari’s help to
Rama.
Aarav Namaste to all, Am Aarav here,
Shabari was a woman from tribal village, she was a knowledge seeker and wanted to
know the meaning of Dharma. After days of traveling, she had met Sage Matanga and
accepted him as guru and served with devotion.
Anvi Shabari had served guru throughout her life.
When her guru Matanga was about to die, she sought him to bless her to reach the same
"abode of peace" which Matanga reached.
Aarav Sage said that by the virtue of her seva, Lord Rama shall give her darshan and tells her to
wait for his arrival. As per her guru's words, Shabari awaits for the arrival of Rama.
Anvi Everyday Shabari would go out of her ashram, with the help of a walking stick and pluck
nuts and berry fruits for Lord Rama. She would pluck a fruit, first taste it and would keep
the sweet ones in her basket and discard the bitter ones as she wanted to give the good
and sweet fruits to Rama.
Aarav The thought never came to her that she should not taste it before it was offered to a
deity. Thus, collecting a few tasty fruits Shabari would go back to the ashram and eagerly
anticipated for Lord Rama's arrival.
Anvi Though hundreds of exalted  yogis were waiting to receive Rama in their ashrams, One
final day, Lord Rama visited only Shabari's ashram because of her sincere devotion. He
held her hands and shed tears of joy.
Aarav On seeing Rama, Shabari became ecstatic and said am very happy today my services and
austerities have borne fruit, as I have seen you.
This shows you will only see the true bhakti, will neither see whether a devotee lives in a
palace or humble hut, whether he is erudite or ignorant, neither see caste nor color.
Anvi I do not have anything to offer other than my heart, but here are some berry fruits. May it
please you, my Lord.
Aarav When Rama was tasting them, Lakshmana raised the concern that Shabari had already
tasted them and were therefore unworthy of being eaten.
Anvi Rama said that "nothing could equal these berry fruits I had tasted before. Whomsoever
offers a fruit, leaf, flower or some water with love, I take it with great joy."
You taste them, then you will know.
Aarav Rama notices the bowls, which are handmade of leaves, which she had offered the fruits
and is impressed by the hard work Shabari has gone through to make them. Hence
blesses the tree so that the leaves naturally grow in the shape of a bowl.
Anvi Shabari was a very bright and knowledgeable saint. She tells Rama to take help
from Sugriva and also where to find him.
Aarav Rama said, O Shabari, holy woman, your services to sages and others, would have surely
secured place in heaven. Pleased with Shabari's devotion, Rama blesses her with his vision
and leaves.
Anvi After Lord Rama darshan, Shabari’s body life ended, she achieve spiritual world and
eternal abode of Sri Rama.
