Throughout all 4 generations, each Xbox console is always a direct competitor of a similar Sony
PlayStation console. Both consoles feature similar technological hardware and allows users to play a vast
collection of console games. With the release of the original Xbox, a unique exclusive game was also
released. This was the Halo series. Halo is a science fiction shooter game developed by a division of Xbox
Game Studios. Players take the role of Master Chief John-117 and fights for the human race’s survival
against an alliance of aliens named the Covenant. This video game franchise quickly gained people’s love
throughout the world and was able to help with the sale of Xbox consoles as its always released as a
console exclusive.

Set to release in the 4th quarter of 2020, the Xbox Series X is supposed to be the fastest, most powerful
gaming console to be released with a re-engineered appearance and internal set up. The release of the
Xbox Series X is aimed to compete against Sony’s new PlayStation 5, also set to release around the same
time. Xbox is rumoured to have better processing capability and the ability to play games from all
previous generations. With the release of the console, consumers will also be able to experience the
new Halo Infinite or Halo 6. Being a classic gaming franchise, this console exclusive will surely sway many
consumers to purchase the new generation of the Xbox Series X gaming console.

The newest Nintendo Switch is a hybrid between a handheld device and a gaming console. Consumers
can use it without a TV/Monitor with its build in screen and attached controller. If desired, it can also be
placed into the TV connector mount and detached the controllers for wireless play on the TV. The
Switch has many classic Nintendo games and because of its portable feature, has become a preference
for those who only game occasionally.

Nintendo has no official news to release a new console. However, it is rumoured that a new “Nintendo
Switch 2” or “Switch Pro” will be released some time in 2021. Either way, the company shows no signs
that it will be competing against Xbox and Sony PlayStation in the 2020 holiday season release.
