COURSE: PAD 102: INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION


The course is an introductory course to the study of Public Administration. It is
designed to achieve the following objectives:

1. Introduce students to the study of Public Administration. This will entail


introducing the students to the basic theories, concepts and approaches in
Public Administration, mainly from the perspective of developing countries.
2. Introduce the students to the different administrative systems of modern
societies as a result of administrative reforms in public administration
3. Introduce the students to key challenges facing the civil services with special
emphasis on Africa.

4. COURES ASSESSMENT:

There will be a Continuous Assessment of students comprising 50% of course


marks. This Continuous Assessment will be based on three (3) pieces of work, two
(2) tests and one essay. The Final Examination will account for the other 50%.
