EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In setting up any business, the amount or cost will depend on the approach and scale we
want to undertake. If we intend to go big by renting a place, then our business would need a good
amount of capital as we would need to ensure that our employees are well taken care of, and that
our facility is conducive enough for workers to be creative and productive.

This means that the start-up can either be low or high depending on our goals, vision, and
aspirations for our business. The tools and equipment that will be used are nearly the same cost
everywhere, and any difference in prices would be minimal and can be overlooked. As for the
detailed cost analysis for starting a sports and recreation facility; it might differ in other countries
due to the value of their money. However, this is what it would cost us to set up Cityjog in the
City of Makati, Philippines.

This is the key areas where we will spend our start-up capital on.

that the testing and evaluating expenses would be high because of the large amount of equipment
needed to start-up a sports and recreations facility and also the sophistication of the technology
used in gyms and fitness center.

Cityjog is established with the aim of maximizing profits in the sports and recreation facility
industry and we are going to go all the way to ensure that we do all it takes to attract both
individual clients and corporate clients on a regular basis.

DESCRIPTION OF THE BUSINESS

The sports business means many different things to different people. This is truly global
industry, and sports stir up deep passion within spectators and players alike in countries around
the world. To one person, sports are a venue for gambling; to another, they are a mode of
personal recreation and fitness, be it skiing, cycling, running, or playing tennis. To business
people, sports provide a lucrative and continually growing marketplace worthy of immense
investment. To athletes, sports may lead to high levels of personal achievement, and to
professionals, sports can bring fame and fortune. To facilities and developers and local
governments, sports are a way to build revenue from tourists and local fans.

Sports are deeply ingrained in education, from elementary through university levels. Perhaps
we cannot state with confidence that sports enrich the lives of all of us, but they certainly
entertain a huge swath of the world’s population. In addition to economic impact, the largest
single effect that sports create is that of gripping entertainment: hundreds of millions of fans
around the globe follow sports daily, whether via radio, television, printed publications, online or
in person, as audiences or participants.

There are several trends controlling different industries. The sports and recreation facility
industry has indeed benefited from recent marketing campaigns which is targeted towards
encourage people to participate in sports and also to fight obesity which is becoming rampant, as
well as consumer trends toward healthy living. Cityjog is a newly-open sports business industry
in Makati, Philippines. Going forward, many people who are part of the baby boomers’
generation are expected to sign up for health and fitness club memberships or make use of sports
and recreation facilities in their communities, as they become more health-conscious as they
grow older. However, patrons of gyms and fitness centers are anticipated to increasingly pick up
CITYJOG

membership from less expensive gym and fitness centers as against expensive all-inclusive
clubs.

The trend in the sports and recreation facility industry is such that if a sport complex is well
positioned in a residential area or a place where people can easily access without much stress,
there is a likelihood that the sports and recreation facility will enjoy high-patronage.
Cityjog is engaged in the design, development, marketing and selling of athletic apparels,
equipment, accessories and services. Our market products are also designed for kids, as well as
for other athletic and recreational uses, such as tennis, volleyball, basketball and other outdoor
activities.

Cityjog is a business that will be owned and managed by Clark Arnold Paulite, Kei Ann
Ventura, Jenel Cada, Jennielyn Marquez and Gabrielle Tomas. They are the sole financial of the
business which is why they decided to restrict the sourcing of the star-up capital for the business
to just three major sources. These are the areas we intend generating our start-up capital;
 Generate part of the start-up capital from personal savings and sale of each stocks.
 Generate part of the start-up capital from friends and other extended family members.
 Generate a larger chunk of the start-up capital from the bank (loan facility).
We have been able to generate P10,441,354 (Personal Savings P8,688,271 and soft loan from
family members P1,737,654) and we are at the final stages of obtaining a loan facility of
P33,000,000 from Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).

We will leave no stone unturned in seeing to it that we attract all that may be in need of our
services at all times. The target market for sports and recreation facilities cuts across people of
different walks of life. The fact that people register in sports and recreation facilities along with
gyms and fitness centers for various reasons makes marketing the business interesting.

The target market for sports and recreation facilities can be categorized into three various
groups. The first group are the people who are looking towards shedding weights and stay health
and fit through proper exercising and under the guidance of a qualified fitness instructor.

The other group of people are those who are interested in engaging in one sporting activities
or the other either for fun or to compete at a national or international level and the last group of
people are those (school and sports clubs) who don’t have the required sports facilities for their
students and sports club and would need a standard facility for trainings.
CITYJOG

Our business can accommodate a minimum of 20,000 persons yearly. Therefore, sports are
such a big business for every entrepreneur.

MARKETING STRATEGIES
Our marketing strategies will be directed towards achieving specific objectives that support
the strategic goals of CityJog. The truth is that all we do will be geared towards creating new
market channels, increasing sales and increase our market share. We will leverage on improving
on our services and facility to ensure that we win new clients and retain old members.

As we already mentioned, CityJog target market can be categorized into three various
groups. The first one is those people who are looking towards losing weights and become
physically fit and healthy through proper exercising under the guidance of a qualified fitness
instructor. The other group of people are those who are inclined in engaging in different sporting
activities. We would also like to target those individuals (school and sports club) who don’t have
the required sports facilities for their varsities, students and sports club member who would need
a standard facility for training.

To be specific, our target market will be the millennials from age 16 years old below and 17
years old and above. Those people from age 16 and below, we will offer several sports activities
and training sessions. For those 17 and above, services like yoga, Zumba, trainings (body weight,
strength, high intensity etc.), fitness program and sports activities are highly favorable to them.

At CityJog, our marketing strategies will be consistent throughout the marketing mix and we
will take into consideration product improvement, promotion, and product.

As part of our sales and marketing strategies, we will pay attention to the promotion of our
sports and recreation facility so as to attract people to enroll and become members of our gym
and fitness center. Our unique selling proposition is that we are well-positioned and people can
easily access our facility, our prices are affordable and we have a complete package for families,
schools, and sports club.

Part of the marketing and sales strategies that we will adopt are:

 Promote our sports and recreation facility and apparels online via our official website and
all available social media platforms.
 Introduce CityJog by sending introductory letters alongside brochure to sports clubs,
schools, corporate organization and households within Makati City and neighbor places.
 Print out fliers and strategically drop them in public facilities.
 Position our signage/flexi banners at strategic places in and around Makati City.
 Advertising through collaborating with different schools that officiate sports clinic.

ANALYSIS OF COMPETITION
Like many students and young professionals pursuing an education in sports management
and looking to make their big break into the business of sports. The sports industry is flourishing
with opportunities in all areas including: sports marketing and sponsorship, sports media
(traditional and social media), sports facilities and even higher education institutions which are
growing at faster than average projected rate of 15%. However, although there are numerous
opportunities to work in sports industry and recreation facility, the competition to land one of
them is also higher than ever. CityJog’s team decided to gather information about their main
competitors. Here are the top three main competitors of CityJog:

Gold’s Gym, Crossfit MNL, and 360 Fitness Club would be the tight competitors when it
comes to service, but Cityjog will assure the new approach and service to the clients. Gold’s
Gym is 850m far from Cityjog which is located in Glorietta, Ayala life center, 6811 Ayala Ave,
Makati, Metro Manila. Second one is Crossfit MNL, it is 600m far from Cityjog which is located
at 109 Gamboa Street, Makati City, Metro Manila. Last the 360 Fitness Club is 2000m far from
Cityjog which can be found at 7th Floor Dolmar Gold Tower, C. Palanca Street, Legaspi Village,
Makati City, Metro Manila.

Established in 2002 Gold’s Gym had expanded its fitness profile to offer all of the best
equipment and services including, Jukari Fit to Flex workout, Zumba, Les Mills Body Combat
personal training, spinning, sports conditioning, kid’s fitness, Pilates and yoga, while
maintaining its core weight lifting tradition. It is also the preferred gym of amateur and pro
athletes, fitness and beauty contests, entertainment industry professionals, and every day people
committed to their health and the quality of their lives. With more than 3 million members in 30
countries worldwide, Gold’s Gym’s unmatched experience and expertise continues to change
lives by helping people from all walks of life.
Gold’s Gym had established worldwide recognition through constant brand
reinforcement (with a 93% brand recall in latest studies in the US) and media exposures in
Hollywood films and TV shows like the 1977 Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno’s “The
Pumping Iron”, Adam Sandler’s “The Longest Yard”, VH1’s ‘Celebrity Fit Club”, “Entourage”,
“Hogan Knows Best” and “American Gladiators”. Hence, Gold’s Gym has earned the tag “Gym
of the Stars”. Locally, Gold’s continues the tradition with over almost 300 celebrity members. It
CITYJOG

was the featured gym in the big-hit movie “My Big Love”, “Bestfriends Forever”, “No Other
Woman”, celebrity home exercise videos such as Viva’s “Shimmer” (bellydancing) and “Bump
& Burn”. Gold’s is the official partner of Bb. Pilipinas, Magnavision, PBA, PBL, The Azkals,
Philippine Volcanoes, Powerlifting Association of the Philippines, and Philippine Gymnastics
Association. Since it began operations in the Philippines, Gold’s provides free workouts to 50
athletes per Gold’s Gym club every day to support their strength training programs.

The 360 Fitness Club last 2010, in an era of traditional, full-scale gyms complete with
treadmills and weight machines, they introduced a 30-minute, no machines circuit training
workout to the commercial gym market, revolutionizing the local fitness industry. When they
opened, people wouldn’t believe that the 360 Fitness Club operates because they had no machine
set up! The 360 Fitness Club fast, fun, and effective core program, backed by a team of highly
qualified coaches, however, drew gym goers to complete the circuit— and the rest was history.
Today, they had established high standards of success with the fitness programs we offer across
our 7 branches, and we continue to fulfill our vision of “being the leading non-traditional fitness
brand in the country that consistently delivers exceptional client experiences, through its
innovative client services, in order to gear them up for life, and will be the first Filipino fitness
brand to reach major markets in Asia.

The Crossfit MNL a group of passionate athletes from different backgrounds they bored
with gym or their usual training routine. These folks wanted to get the best results from
a demanding, varied, and fun workout. The journey began when one member of the CrossFit
MNL team came across CrossFit in the States and immediately fell in love and got addicted to
the program. Upon coming back to the Philippines and spreading the gospel about CrossFit to
athletes coming from different disciplines, he was able to form a group who knew the benefits of
the program and the need for such in the Philippines. Thus the birth of CrossFit MNL, a
representation of different athletes of different levels sharing one same passion – the sport of
fitness. CrossFit is a fitness program for everyone! It uses exercises from gymnastics, Olympic
weightlifting, track and field, kettlebell training and other sports. Most workouts resemble circuit
training and are finished in less than 30 minutes.

The Cityjog competitors give benefits to their loyal customer a membership promo. The
Gold’s Gym, Crossfit MNL, and 360 Fitness Club also give an instructor or trainer to the clients
who wants their service. Cityjog competitors also give advice to achieve the clients’ goal and to
have a healthy lifestyle.

When it comes to product such as apparels, Gold’s Gym, Crossfit MNL, and 360 Fitness
Club they sell like T-shirt, undershirt and other gym accessories, they also sell protein powder to
those clients who have weight program. However Cityjog have own fitness boutique for the
apparels that they need to buy. In terms of business they have the same service offers to the
clients. When it comes to distribution Cityjog is a newbie to the fitness industry therefore we
CITYJOG

don’t have branches yet. Clients will go to Cityjog boutique to purchase Cityjog items. While our
competitors they have their branches what they do they distribute their product by checking it.
Comparing CityJog’s prices to the competitors, CityJog’s apparel are cheaper than to the
competitor’s pricing but assuming the same quality of product. When it comes to service pricing
just the same as what the competitors offer. As we already mentioned, Gold’s Gym, CrossFit
MNL, and 360 Fitness Club they promote their business through giving a membership promo to
their clients.

Gold’s Gym, CrossFit MNL, and 360 Fitness Club their advertisement has an official
page to Facebook, Instagram and official website or in part of mall advertisement. CityJog also
have an official page to Facebook and official website to target the social media and corporate
business since our location is in Makati and other electronic mail sources or internet sites. We
also give fliers, posting to newspaper and through television in ABS-CBN such as “Swak na
Swak” and “SportsU” and also to radio station and since we are already in the millennial
generation through android app, cityjog app.

People are so in love with sports and keeping feet, as such there are various sports
services available to people, No doubt, the sports and recreation industry is indeed a productive
and highly competitive industry. Clients will only enroll to in your sports and recreation facility
if they know that you can successfully help them achieve their health and fitness goals or provide
the enabling environment and facility for them to achieve their sports goals.

It is the practice for gyms and fitness instructors, coaches, and trainers to acquire as much
certification as it relates to their area of specialization; it is part of what will make them stay
competitive in the industry.

CityJog is centrally located in a densely populated-residential area in Makati, Philippines;

this is obviously going to give us an edge amongst our competitive. We equally have a team of
highly qualified professionals who will work with all our clients to achieve their aims or
enrolling in our sports and recreation facility cum gym and fitness center and lastly our
membership package is one of the bests that anybody living in Makati can get; the prices are
reasonable and also affordable.

Lastly, our employees will be well taken care of, and their welfare package will be
among the best within our category (startups sports and recreation facility businesses in the
Philippines) in the industry. It will enable them to be more than willing to build the business with
us and help deliver our set goals and achieve all our business aims and objectives.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT

The statement shown summarizes the assets and liabilities of CityJog. It includes the
three-year-prediction of our business revenue based on the number of customers we would like
to target. In our first year, which is the launching of our business, our non-assets would be the
property of our business and the equipment we purchased. As you can observed, the revenue
flowing every year is getting higher and higher. The total amount of CityJog’s assets would be P
31,507,616 for 2018. When it comes to equity, the share capital will come from the owners, they
are able to generate P 10,441,354 (personal savings and soft loan from family members). Trade
and other payables of CityJog’s first is extremely high, it is because the materials for building
construction are just owed with by our business. The total equity and liabilities would be also P
31,507,616. It is the estimated amount to successfully launch standard and well-equipped sports
and recreations facilities in City of Makati, Philippines. It is important to state that the testing
and evaluating expenses would be high because of the large amount of equipment needed to
start-up a sports and recreations facility and also the sophistication of the technology used in
gyms and fitness center.

It ranges from P 935,000 to P 1,154,000. The reason why CityJog boomed up in these months is
because it’s a fixed season. It’s the period of summer vacation and people are conscious about
their bodies; that’s why gym is in demand. On the other hand, June is the period wherein Gym is
not in demand because individuals are busy preparing for school and work. At the end of the
year, CityJog generated cash with a total of P 9,745,150.

Table No. 7: Comparison of Revenue and Expenses

Based on the table shown above, it specifies the comparison between the revenue
and the expenses of CityJog. As you observed, January and December got the highest amount of
expenses. By January, our business purchased the web domain and hosting and by December,
CityJog hired an accountant and legal to ensure that the money flowing within our business is
adequate. These are the factors that affect the increase of expenses. From February to November
the expenses of our business are just the same because some of the expenses are one-time
purchased only. Revenue flowing within CityJog is extremely low compare to our expenses.
From March to May, our business got the highest cash flow within the year. It ranges from P
935,000 to P 1,154,000. On the other hand, June is the period wherein Gym is not in demand
because individuals are busy preparing for school and work. The comparison in this table is
clear, expenses are much higher than the revenue of CityJog because it is the first year of our
business and its hard to gain all the capital that we invested.
Cityjog is established with the aim of maximizing profits in the sports and recreation
facility industry and we are going to go all the way to ensure that we do all it takes to attract both
individual clients and corporate clients on a regular basis.
