Introduction to Wildlife Sanctuaries
A wildlife sanctuary is an area covered by the government. This side set aside by the
special notification in the official gazette, as an undistributed Breeding ground for the
protections of wildlife from their disasters. Public is prohibited to the sanctuary. Exploration
of forest in the sanctuary is not permissible except for reducing fire hazards, epidemics,
insects attacks or other natural calamities.

VIII. Polluting the water flowing in Sanctuary.
There are total 99 wildlife sanctuaries in Pakistan. There are 35 wildlife sanctuaries in Sindh
province. Here there are seven are given below in detail:

I. Keti Bunder North Wildlife Sanctuary
1) Location
2) Area Covered
Keti Bunder North wildlife sanctuary have wetland and also have mangrove habitat.
4) Wildlife
There are 33 genera and 21 families of birds are recorded. There are 4280 birds were
recorded here. Abundant species includes Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Greater Egret, Flamingo,
and common Coot. Some winter visitor and summer breeder includes are Herons, Egrets,
Waders, Pelicans and Raptors. Mammals includes Fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus),
Indian wild bear (Sus scrofa), Indian porcupines (Manis crassicaudatu) & Reptiles includes
Sea Snakes, Vipers, Cobras and Lizards.

Keti Bunder South wildlife sanctuary have wetland & also have mangrove forest
habitat.
4) Wildlife
Keti Bunder south is mainly for the water birds. About 50000 birds in the Migratory
Season has been recorded from this area in the past. The Birds includes are Pelicans, Egrets
and waders etc. Among the terrestrial mammals includes wild boar, Asiatic jackal. Among

marine mammals Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncates), Hump-backed dolphin (Sousa
chinensis), Common dolphin (Delphinus delphis), Spinner dolphin (Stenella longirostris) &
Finless porpoise (Neophocaena phocaenoides)

Its is situated at Thatta District in Sindh, Pakistan in 1977. This lake was declared as a
Game Sanctuary in 1971 and designated as a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1977.

This lake is internationally play an important role for the wide variety of breeding,
staging, passage and wintering water birds. The wintering birds includes duck, geese,
shorebirds, flamingo, cormorants, herons and egrets, ibises, coots & gulls etc. The breeding
birds reported from the wetlands are Cotton Teal, Night Herons, Pheasant tailed Jacana and
Purple Moorhen. About 100000 birds have been recorded from this wetland in winter.
