Working together for a better world

INTRODUCTORY GLOBAL PEACE MEETING

Thursday, 28 May 2020 | 14:00–15:30 SAST | 12:00–13:30 GMT

In 2020, Global Peace plans to convene Inter-Generational Dialogues (IGDs) across the world
as part of the UN’s 75th anniversary initiatives. We have already convened 30 IGDs with many
more already planned…Working Together for a Better World, we can hold 75 IGDs to mark
the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the United Nations!
COVID-19 is a reminder that we need more cooperation across the world and greater
solidarity to define how we respond to, and recover from, the pandemic and how we will
continue to deal with the world’s most dramatic and complex challenges, and new challenges
that will arise in the coming months. From the climate crisis to population shifts, increasing
inequalities, violence and conflicts, to the changing course of technology, collective action is
more urgent than ever before.
Global Peace wants to continue the global dialogue across the world on the role of global
cooperation in building a better world together. Your voice and your actions need to be
shared, and you need to re-imagine a new global order at this crucial time.

If you could speak to the United Nations and your leaders, what would you say? Join us for
an introductory meeting to Global Peace, and a discussion with Executive Director, Vasu
Gounden on how we start this journey to work towards a better world.

About Global Peace

Global Peace was launched in 2018, with the vision to be a catalyst for collaborative efforts that
create social compacts between governments, the private sector and young people to generate
innovative solutions to ongoing global challenges. Working through young people across the
world and with governments, multi-lateral agencies, the private sector, and civil society partners,
Global Peace will become an ecosystem for Ideas, Innovators, Influencers, Investors and
Implementers to find practical solutions to global challenges enhancing conflict prevention and
strengthening the global multi-lateral system.

Global Peace’s Inter-Generational Dialogues (IGDs) are a platform where young people together
with their decision-makers dialogue on their aspirations for what a better world should look like.
