{i TBS INSPECTION AS tbsinspection When quality means everything + ® english VT, PT, MT, UT, RT, IWI-C and IWE Visual inspection (VT) Visual inspection means that the inspector checks the surfaces of welded connections, machined components or materials of varying types after the customers needs and wishes. Visual inspection is performed in accordance with specific procedures and acceptance criteria. Often, the visual inspection method alone is not good enough. One or more of the following NDT methods mentioned further below, is often used as an addition inspection method to ensure full coverage of the object's scope Penetrant Testing (PT) Penetrant Testing is a surface control, which reveals defects / indications that are open up to the surface of the test object. Often used for machined parts, and on non-magnetic materials where the magnetic particle method is not a possibility. Magnetic Particle (MT) Magnetic powder is a method for detecting defects / indications of an object's surface. This method is very good on rough surfaces, the method is limited to materials with good permability. Non- magnetic materials can’t be controlled with magnetic powder, in those cases the use of Penetrant Testing will be recommended Ultrasonic (UT) Ultrasound is often a used method to detect internal defects / indications in welds and other objects, especially good on thicker materials where radiography is limited or not possible. Ultrasound is often used for testing of steel, aluminum, plastics, composite materials and cast objects Radiography (RT) Radiography is the method most often used for checking a weld connection or an object of internal errors / indications and volume errors. Radiography can be performed in two different ways, by X-ray with an x-ray tube, or by gamma used by an isotope. Phased Array (PAUT) In the industrial context PAUT is used including weld inspection , corrosion control and thickness measurement. Because of the ability to control parameters such as angle , focus, and width of the beam , this method is very effective in error detection and the speed of testing. Castings (UT) Offshore: Most of our inspectors are offshore-certified.
