It is Your Choice

Every morning Andrea got up at 5:00 am. The first thing she did was drinking her black
coffee with two toasts and reading the newspaper. She worked at a local store selling crafts to
the occasional tourist. She wasn’t happy though. For some reason, she didn’t feel her life was
on a good track. One day, she was thinking on this feeling and asking herself why she couldn’t
be happy when an old lady knock the door and enter to the store.

How can I help you? she asked the newcomer. The woman looked directly in her eyes but
didn’t answer. She made her question again but it was the same. Finally, the old lady said: I
want something that you have made off.

Andrea was surprised by the request. Nobody had asked her something like that before.
She wasn’t sure how to deliver her response, and even she felt some embarrassment. Finally,
she apologized and answered that nothing in the store was made by her. The old lady left the
store without buying anything, but Andrea kept thinking about this for a long time. Eventually,
she realized that she wants to build something for her own. For her, this was a wakeup call.

Now, every morning Andrea got up at 5:00 am. The first thing she does is to drink her
black coffee with two toast and to check her assignments for the college. Andrea is getting an
associate degree in Fine Arts and soon she will continue her education at a very important
University. It wasn’t easy for her studying and working at the same time but it’s worth it. She
hopes that next time, when someone asked for something created by her, she can show to this
estranger many things made by her effort, dedication and hard work. She would be proud and
finally happy.
