THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND

(SHRI ASHWINI KUMAR CHOUBEY)

(a) to (c): Yes. The National Population Policy was reviewed under the Chairmanship of
Hon’ble Prime Minister by the National Commission on Population (NCP) in its meeting held on
23.07.2005 and 21.10.2010. As an outcome of the review, population stabilisation was taken up
as a priority with enhanced emphasis on strengthening public health services, provision of
essential medicines, and nutrition of pregnant women, women’s education and empowerment.
All of these have been incorporated in the National Health Policy, 2017 which emphasises that
“improved access, education and empowerment would be the basis of successful population
stabilization”.
