MEDIUM VOLTAGE GENERATORS

Medium (MV) or High Voltage (HV) power generation is typically used where the power rating causes current at Low Voltage (LV) to exceed

practical limits. In a practical sense, this occurs when the system capacity exceeds 4000 amps or more. It may also be desirable when power

must be distributed to points at a significant distance from the generator set.

Single generator rated at above 2.5 MVA and paralleling generators rated at above 2 MVA are good exaples of equipment that is commonly

considered for MV applications. MV alternators are not economically pratical at less than a proximately 1000 kW. At levels less than 1000kW, it

is probably desirable to consider the use of a low woltage machine with a step up transformer.

When designing an MV or HV installation, consideration must be given to the training and qualification of the personnel operating the system

owing to the higher level of safety precautions requried with these systems.

 PARALLEL OPERATION

In the case where the power of the electrical load is greater than the generator

power generated several generators working together as a single generator

to meet the load which is called synchronized or Parallel Operation to the

electrical load.

In production of diesel engines, areas of used defind the quantity and since

the broadest range of use is in heavy construction machinery, automobiles,

lorries and trucks engines upto 550 kW are manufactures on serial production

lines. Large quantities and use of serial production methods keep the cost

per kW at reasonable levels compared to engines of higher power. Choosing

a system composed of small generators operating in parallel instead of high

power generator has some advantages.

REMOTE RADIATOR GENERATORS

ISO8528, a standard that defines operation standards of generators, requires that the declared power on the label should be supplied

continuously at the ambient temperature of 25°C. Although the generator radiator is stated as 40°C in the specs, alternator copper losses and

heat (30%) emitted by the radiation on the engine and exhaust pipes causes the temperature to go above ambient temperature. This causes

a drop of power on the diesel generator.

In order to prevent this power drop, radiator system is moved away from the diesel generator and connected directly to the ambient

air suction. Thus, if the radiator is designed for 40°C, it will work at this temperature without any power drop.
 REMOTE MONITORING

Remote monitoring and control system allows reading all operating parameters and alarm information of generator sets without limitation

of distance. Control devices communicate with the outer world by ModBus protocol over RS485 and ethernet ports. SCADA or embedded

SCADA systems are used for monitoring. SCADA software is configured to customer needs to work in a desktop computer. Connection with

the generator control device is directly via ethernet port or RS485 communication line up to 1250 mt. SCADA software can SMS or email in

case of failure. SCADA system requires a computer to work, while embedded SCADA system work in a microprocessor device and allows

more than one user to connect to the system simultaneously owing to static IP. Incase of an alarm, the system informs the preset phone

numbers via SMS or sends emails to relevant email addresses.

Special cabins are offered when it is desired to

reduce the volume. Or special types of containers

are preferred depending on the environment or

operating conditions or when the room dimensions

are not suitable for standard cabin use.
