Imagine an object is subjected to a northward force of 90 N and a due east

force of 60 N.

Deduce the magnitude of the resultant force and its angle with respect to due
north.
When the angle decreases, F has to decrease in order to maintain 90 degrees with T.

Resultant of force F and weight of climber increases. Magnitude of tension must increase to ensure no
net force acts on climber
F (resultant) = ma

(15 – friction) = 3kg x 2

Friction = 9N
