Practice 1. Using Vocabulary

Complete the animal fact file with the correct words.

ANIMAL FACTS

1 Most kinds of deer have short tails . The males use their antlers for fighting.
2 Elephants can lift almost 350 kilos with their trunks . Unfortunately, they are often
killed for their tusks.
3 Some horses have long manes which can grow down to their knees. Horses are
not the only animals that have hooves sheep, deer, camels and giraffes also have
them.
4 Tigers’ feet have soft paws but very sharp claws, which can grow to over 10 cm
long!
5 The Australian pelican is a large bird with black and white feathes. It has a very
large beak which it uses for catching fish and which can be from 30 to 50 cm long!

Exercise on page 108:

In this picture, it is obvious this must be a very cold place, since we can see there is
snow everywhere and also because the person on the sled; who´s in charge to lead the
five dogs is wearing various coats and they look pretty heavy and thick. He´s may be a
local if he knows how to lead one of these.

This was might take in Siberia or somewhere in north, because there it is very
common for huskies (and other dogs) to push the sleds in order to make
transportation way more easy and comfortable, but they also do this for tourism.
