a) Company that being the total logistics provider in Malaysia

I choose Pos Malaysia Berhad Company for this assignment as the one that being the
total logistic provider in Malaysia. The key people of Pos Malaysia Berhad is Abdul Azim Farihin
bin Abdul Ghani. Pos Malaysia Berhad’s history can be traced back to the early 1900s, with the
first postal services being established in the Straits Settlements in Perak, Pahang and Singapore
spreading across the rest of Malaya by the early 20 th century. Thereafter, letters were
transmitted by dispatch riders or special messengers.

Pos Malaysia Berhad is Malaysia’s largest postal service provider that have at least a few
office in every states. It provides shipping service, handles millions of letters and goods every
day across a national network of over 1,000 including Pos Malaysia Outlets, Pos Mini, Pos 24
which is allow for self-service, Pos-On-Wheels and delegate post around Malaysia. There is also
postal and related service which is standard mail, retail, international mail, courier, express and
parcels CEP, logistic and e-commerce. Pos Malaysia used many ways to keep in touch with their
customer.

There are many facts about Pos Malaysia Berhad such as it deliver to more than 8.3
million addresses, deliver over 3 million postal articles daily, more than 90,000 PO Boxes, there
are 93 Post Automated Machines, more than 7,600 delivery routes and around 9.6 million kg of
international mail and parcels handled at the Pos Malaysia Internationally Hub annually. The
vision of Pos Malaysia Berhad is connecting Malaysia and beyond for today and tomorrow and
their mission is build and deliver the network of choice. I think they already achieve their vision
and mission since they already had a lot of delivery not only in Malaysia but also deliver abroad
that can connect someone here with their love there by deliver a parcel that might be letters
and also presents.

Thus, as we can see, the core business for this company is courier and express mail and
it got a great responses from people. Nowadays, there is a lot of business companies that use
PosLaju that provide the courier and express mail to deliver theirparcelsor goods to the
customers such as Shopee and Lazada.
b) The strategies used by the company to sustain in the marketplace

Pos Malaysia Berhad has developed an operating strategy to thrive in this industry
through PostalMel (mail and postal services), PosLaju (courier and express mail) and PosNiaga
(retail service) to compete directly and indirectly with each company in the local and
international arena. The courier arm of Pos Malaysia, PosLaju continues to drive the growth of
the company behind a robust e-commerce landscape based on courier solutions. PosLaju
currently controls about 37% of domestic markets, with the widest coverage of the network and
the biggest fleet courier.

The next strategies that been used by the company is spread their business by having
PosLaju courier service at 691 post offices, 35 PosLaju kiosks nationwide, 162 appointed agents
and 97 PosLaju outlets. By doing this, people can increase their trust towards Pos Malaysia and
always visit the kiosks and use PosLaju to post their goods to the recipients. In addition, by
level up this strategy, it can make a customer settle down their delivery in an easy way.

Not only that, Pos Malaysia realising that the significant contribution of micro
entrepreneurs towards demand for the courier services, so they upgrade their Pos Express
services and rebrand it as Xpress Drop. This inexpensive service can be used by micro
entrepreneurs who market-low goods as an alternative to their premium courier service. By
doing this, automatically they fulfil their customer demand s that they can stand longer in
market place.

Besides, Pos Malaysia also partnered with Zurich Takaful to deliver PosLaju Shield to
make it easier for customer who purchase high-value products online. This insurance covers all
essential products supplied using PosLaju. In doing so, customer add up their trust and feel
save to use PosLaju as their platform to deliver the products from one point to another point.
Also, this takaful insurance is valid for one year from the date of purchase and can be used until
the balance is expended in the customer’s account. As we can see here, this totally can give a
huge advantage for the customers.
In addition, they also launched a range of new items to cater for specific consumer
needs while improving their operational capabilities. Among these, EziFulfilment targets small
and medium-sized enterprises (“SMEs”) that sell their goods online. The company helps small
and medium-sized businesses to enjoy end-to-end facilities by maintaining the warehouse
inventory until the last miles have been shipped.
c) Advantages of globalization to the company

Globalization is the process by which businesses or other organizations develop

international influence or start operating on an international scale. In generally, globalization
has give advantages to the company which is Pos Malaysia got huge chances to widespread
their business. When the number of people that knowing this company or more specific this
system which is courier and express mail that have been provided by Pos Malaysia, it can be
easy for them to escalate their name around the world and at the same time, they can level up
their profit. What does PosLaju did is they create more benefits from manufacturing and
improve their weakness than offer high price charge for customer.

On the other hand, globalization also foster healthy rivalry for PosMalaysia with J&T or
also Ninja Van that offers the same service. By having this competition, PosLaju will always give
an eye towards their customer dissatisfaction and try hard to brush up and fix the problem to
fulfil their customers demand and maintain in postal industry. Without competition, company
will not be leading any cross-border trade developments and maybe will always be ‘the frog
under the shells’. By doing this, the quality of goods or service improves as well as why the
price drop. Also, help increased exchange of ideas and creativity as people seek to give their
company advantages.

Even there are many companies that come up with this service but there are still people
that look up for PosLaju because it already certificate in world. It means that, people already
put their trust on high level towards PosLaju and believes that it can give them the best one.

Next, it also helps reducing gap between poor and rich, also rural and urban people
because it offer normal price that can be paid for every people to make a delivery. For example,
during this RMO, those who cannot go back to their hometown can use PosLaju to deliver,
presents such as `Baju Raya’, goods or even special ‘Kad Raya’ for their parents. Even cannot
meet up and celebrate together, PosLaju can help tight up relationship between people miles
away.
Globalization also help increase employment opportunities. Lately, there a lot of people
that makes a business online and got high demand. So, by this activity that have been create
by people, PosLaju be a middle party between online customer and seller. By this widen
business, PosLaju needed for them so PosMalayasia required for additional workers to deliver
the product to customers on time and always fulfil their demands.
d) Impacts of Covid-19 to the logistics industry as a whole

Covid-19 does not totally give bad impact because there will always insight behind
everything happened. So, I’ll divide it into pros and cons. As we can see, at the first stage that
have been announced from our prime minister, logistic industry got high request from because
every people want to save their life. From college to hometown, from office to home, all of
transportation used such as bus, taxi, grabcar, flight and even train till they does not win hand
to handle it and got unexpected high profits.

Secondly, this epidemic help move the raw materials and basic needs such as rice to
distributed to people that really affected using lorry, truck and treller from one point to another
just like Ebit Lew did every weeks. Not only that, meat seller also use logistic to send their good
to retailer in each state because they got high demand for people to stay alive. Next, Malaysian
grab this chance to do online food sell-buy such as SusuPisangNilofa so, company that do
postal service can increase their profits to supply the goods to customers.

On the negative eyes, not every single thing can be purchase by online so, it ruin up all
the process that close to the port because they need to stop and there is TLDM that will control
this activities according to this RMO. For example, there are many containers left aside because
they can be moved. So, this undermine commerce between countries.Besides, investors outside
and inside cannot create agreement and continue their contract because this pandemic affect
for the whole world. So, company logistic cannot maintain their cash flows because nothing can
be moved.

In addition, domestic goods that need cargo cannot been proceeds because there is
block to carry on the goods so, it might be expired or rusty. By this, the company will face
elephantine loss to create a new one and forget the late one because it already damage. Next,
it guides persecution to happen. For instance, the customers Food Panda that cancel their
orders last minutes. The effect towards logistic industry are there will be loss of petrol for the
workers, affect the time to deliver the goods to the next customer and they need to face loss
because compensation would not been paid for the food that been cancel.
