 Mission Offerings – A mission envelope was sent home today and may be brought back anytime this
week.

 Spelling Words – This week is a review unit. The lessons review the spelling patterns and words from
units 13-17. We will not have a pretest! The final test on Friday will consist of 25 random words from
units 13-17.

 Tests – Wednesday we will have a math test. As always, the students will be given a practice test. It is
optional to complete; however, I highly recommend that it be done! Those that complete the practice test
and turn it in on time will receive extra credit.

 Report Cards - If you have any questions about your child’s report card, please contact me. Please sign
and return the envelope by this Friday, January 28th.

 Science Fair Projects – This week the students will finish their biome reports with their partner(s). Their
Biome Boxes are due at school on Thursday. Please do not send them to school before Thursday, as there
isn’t a whole lot of room to store them in our classroom. I’m excited to see the students’ creativity in
creating these Biome Boxes!

 Science Fair/Open House – A reminder that the Science Fair/Open House will be held this Friday, January
28th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Make sure you take a good look at the different types of projects that the students
in grades 5-8 do because next year your child will be completing a similar project all on his/her own (It’s
not a class project!). Keep in mind that this year’s projects are science projects, but next year your child
will be completing a social studies project.

 Memory Work Schedule – The February memory work schedule will be sent home this week.

 Sonshine Station – This is a program held at Apostles for children, ages 3 through 4 th grade which will
consist of stories, puppets, and activities (including a train ride) to teach about God’s love. It will be
offered the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. The first Sonshine Station will be held
next Saturday, February 5th. This would be a great opportunity for you to share with your relatives,
neighbors, friends, etc.!

 Pajama Drive - Apostles is hosting a Pajama Drive February 1-10.  These pajamas will benefit children in
Santa Clara County and Northern California through distribution by the Northern California Chapter
Pajama Program. The Pajama Program, based in New York with chapters around the US, supplies new
pajamas and new books for children in foster homes and/or shelters. These homes and shelters care for
children from newborn to age 18. All sizes of pajamas are accepted. Donations will be collected at Apostles
from February 1-10, 2011. Collection boxes will be located in the entryway of church and in each
classroom. If you have any questions, please see Miss Zahn. Thank you for making a child in Northern
California your Valentine!
