For this week, we are going to talk about death penalty and whether it’s a viable solution in
our world. To do that, you are going to do a little research and you are going to come up with your own
arguments for and against death penalty.

A) Research 5 countries that have the death penalty and write them down.

Iran, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Egypt and Iraq

B) How do they implement the death penalty? In which cases and for what crimes doe they use
it?
For example: Death and Violation, because this are the most important and necessary.

C) Is the implementation of the death penalty fair (just) in all of those countries? Briefly explain
your answer.
Yes, because this isn’t going to aply all the days, it is going to aply in some exclusive things
D) If you had to apply the death penalty, even if you are against it, in which cases and for which
crimes would you do it and why?
E) In extreme cases like deaths or violation

2. Decide if you are in favor or against the death penalty, then:

A) Give three reasons to support your position and explain them. You don’t have to do it as an
essay, just list the reasons and explain them.

B) Would you rather have death penalty or life sentences here in Colombia? Justify your

C) Luis Garavito, who killed over 138 children, is in prison and his sentence is set to expire in
2021. Do you think the death penalty should be applied in extreme cases like this? Why or
why not?
