Mission Accomplished!
Sam Waters had a goal of competing in his first-ever
Olympic Triathlon this year, but the Covid-19 thing had
all the events cancelled statewide. An Olympic Triathlon
consists of a 1,500 meter swim, a 25-mile (40 km) bike
ride and a six mile (10 km) run. Sam has accomplished
all of these events numerous times, but never all three
at the same time. At least not until Thursday morning
of last week. And that day happened to be the final day
the city pool was open, so he had to either get it done or
wait until next year. He dove into the water at 6:04 and
completed his swim, then it was on his bike for 25 miles,
and he came across his own finish line back at the pool
at 9:39 a.m. He also had a lot of “support” by family and
friends who placed signs of encouragement along his
bike and running routes, so it turned out to be a rather
momentous triathlon all of his own. “I felt really good, it
went very well,” Sam said as was rehydrating himself
with a refreshing jug of H2O. Congrats, Sam!

High fire dangers ahead
Dry and windy conditions will lead to high fire
danger across northeast Montana for Tuesday and
Wednesday.
The combination of relative humidity values below
20 percent with wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph at
times may lead to any new fire starts to rapidly spread.
A cold front on Wednesday may bring some
showers and higher relative humidity, particularly
north of Highway 2. However, fire weather concerns will
continue to be a problem south of Highway 2 through
Wednesday evening as it will take longer for the frontal
passage to occur across those locations.
In addition, anyone with plans out on Fort Peck
Lake will need to keep in mind the expected windy
conditions.
Elks Care, Elks Share!
On June 1st, the Elks National Foundation released
$3.7 million for their annual Spotlight Grants. These
$2,000 grants are available to every Lodge to shine the
light on COVID-19 relief, for there is no more pressing
issue facing American communities than the response
to the pandemic.
Glasgow Elks Lodge #1922 was recently awarded
one of these $2,000 grants from the Elks National
Foundation and put it to great use, choosing to donate
their grant money to the Valley County Food Bank,
to help out those people in our area who have been
struggling to put food on the table due to the economic
impact of COVID-19.
Poor old Morris...
Morris Schwartz, on his deathbed, knowing the end
is near, is with his nurse, his wife, his daughter and his two
sons.
So, he says to them:
“Bernie, I want you to take the Beverly Hills houses.”
“And Sybil, you take the apartments over in Los
Angeles Plaza.”
“Hymie, I want you to take the offices over in City
Center.”
“Sarah, my dearest wife, please take all of the
residential buildings downtown.”
The nurse is completely blown away by all this, and as
Morris slips away, she says,
“Mrs. Schwartz, your husband must have been a
very hardworking man to have accumulated all of this
property”.

Note: It was a few decades ago when Gene
Etchart received the following “proposal” on what
could be done with the old Glasgow Air Force Base.
Some of you may have remember reading it as, if
memory serves correct, it was not only circulated
out-n-about Glasgow but was also published in the
Glasgow Courier when Gladys Silk was editor. As to
who wrote this witty piece, we haven’t a clue. Enjoy:
PROPOSAL

RE: The Final Solution!!!
Understanding that you, up there in Montana,
have a bad problem with coyotes and that you also
have a perplexing problem in finding a use for the
massive Glasgow Air Force Base facilities, which, we
understand, has given state and federal authorities
conniptions for some time, we propose, for your
consideration, the following:
A group of us are considering investing in a large
coyote ranch at GAFB. It is our intention to start
rather small, with about one million coyotes. Each
coyote averages about four pups a year; skins can be
sold for about $35 for the large ones and $25 for the
small ones, this will give us four million coyote skins
per year to sell at an average price of around $30,
making our annual revenue about $120 million per
year, this really averages out to about $400,000 per
day excluding Sundays and holidays.
A good coyote skinner can skin about 130 coyotes
a day at a wage of $2.00 per coyote. It will take 100
men to operate the ranch, so the net profit would be
over $370,000 per day.
Now, the coyotes would feed on rats exclusively.
Rats multiply four times as fast as coyotes. We would
start a Rat Ranch right adjacent to the Coyote Ranch. If
we start with one million rats we will have four rats per
coyote each day. The rats will be fed on the carcasses of
the coyotes we skin. This will give each rat a quarter of
a coyote a day. You can see that the business is a clean
operation — self supporting — and really automatic
throughout. The coyotes will eat the rats, the rats will
eat the coyotes, and we will get the skins.
Eventually it is our hope to cross the coyotes with
snakes, for they will skin themselves twice a year.
This would save the labor costs of skinning as well as
give us two skins for one coyote.
If you are interested in our idea we will need
more information regarding the best time to hold
the roundup to secure our initial coyote herd, who
to contact at GAFB regarding the use of facilities,
we anticipate utilizing the entire facility and the
names of Montana farmers and ranchers that may be
interested in a joint-venture and the name of a fence
salesman, as we will need several thousand cages at
each of the ranches. As you can see, the potential to
expand this enterprise is... of course, unlimited.

A Glimpse Into
Our Future
I’ve been a good boy and have
been wearing a mask and maybe that’s
why I am thinking of switching sides in
this political lash-up. They say that oxygen deprivation
will eventually cause you to become a Democrat. I’m a
long-time conservative with leanings toward the middle
as many of my 43.1 listeners can attest but if I do switch
it’s because of all the “wonderful things” our potential
first female president, Kowmala Harris has in store for
us in case “Sleepy Joe” doesn’t make it through his four
years. We just can’t let any of that happen as you will soon
hear.
Our current president has made tax cuts for the
middle class folks. Harris says she wants to repeal those
tax cuts and add more taxes. She wants to ban illegal guns
(her incoherent words, not mine) and take all our guns
or at the very least will join us with the United Nations
in their Global Gun Registration fiasco. She’s in with the
mob of people, and you know who they are, who want
us to have to live under a whole pile of more regulations.
Don’t we have enough now? And even though we have
the regulations most of them aren’t being enforced any
way.
Kowmala says she is fine with abortion, supports
“packing” of the SCOTUS, she leans much farther left
than any other Democrat in the US Senate, she publicly
“outted” her running-mate as a racist, she supports the
Green New Deal proposed by AOC and her bunch
of greenie kumquats. While SF District Attorney she
allegedly and illegally padded her salary in several or
more different and unconventional ways. The Judicial
Watch’s Tom Fitton is investigating her on those counts.
Go git ‘er Tom! The Judicial Watch’s motto is “No One Is
Above The Law.”
Harris wants to eliminate private health care and
supports government-run health care for all, including
illegal immigrants. She publicly compared the I.C.E. to
the KKK and is a proponent of tearing down the wall.
Along with that she is fully behind decriminalizing illegal
immigration. That would mean opening the borders. She
is a vocal supporter of the “War on the Suburbs”....whatever
the hell that is and is against energy independence.
There’s her whole agenda in a nut shell (or nutcase
as is the case here.) Could you be happy with all those
looming changes? Or better yet would you be proud to
leave your children and grand-children under the care of
Joe Biden, Ms. Harris and their mob?
No matter though because I predict the presidential
decision won’t be made within a couple years of
this coming November what with all the Democrat
manipulation of the where’s and how’s of how we the
people will be voting. I predict there will be recount upon
recount, accusation upon accusation, investigations out
the roof and a myriad other things that will completely
halt the process of determining who, actually and legally
will be the next president.
My question is this and I really don’t have a
constitutional clue so I’m asking you. If there is a question
about a legal issue and Biden is elected (shudder...shudder)
does Trump keep his job ( Yippee-Hay Cowboy) until
the question is resolved? Seems that should be the way
because we don’t want the confusion of Trump moving
out of the Oval Office and Biden moving in only to
discover months and months and months and possibly
years in the future that the issue has been resolved and
Trump was declared the winner instead. With Biden at
the helm for any length of time one can only imagine
what chaos he could create.
What I’m thinking is just this: If Trump wins
are we going to be in for yet another four years of the
constant and obsessive yammering of the past behavior
of the Democrats or would they come to terms with
the situation and try to help their president? I’m pretty
sure that if Biden does squeak by that the Republicans
will buckle down and try to help in any way they can as
they have done in the past when dealing with a Democrat
controlled House and Senate. I’m also pretty sure there
will be some squabbling from our side but it will be a
whisper in comparison to the cacophony of noise created
by the Democrats these past four years.
Biden/Harris is the question: Trump/Pence is the
answer.
