ALPHA INDUSTRIAL POWER - NICAD BATTERY_DISCHARGE TEST/CAPACITY TEST

Done by: Date: --------------

BATTERY/CELL UNDER TEST: NICAD MODEL: xxxx

1/ Uncrate & place cells under test on a battery rack

2/To carry out a battery capacity test, please make sure the under test battery is fully charged
with cell's open volatge of 1.28V or greater & sepcific gravity of 1.20+/-0.01 Kg/L.
For those cells needs to be recharged before being tested, please follow charging procedure in our manual
instruction and let the cells rest at least 2hrs before measuring and recording specific gravity & open voltage
of each cell; then, proceed a capacity test as below.
3/ a physical check on the cell should be carried out to make sure there is no physical damaged to the battery
before performance the capacity test below.
3/ Use a minimum connecting cable length for the test to avoid high voltage drop in transmission line.

Testing procedure:
1/ Prepare a discharge test table(capacity test) as below to record the testing data per period of testing.
2/ Make sure open voltage reading of the under test cell is about 1.28V or higher & specific gravity of 1.20+/-0.01 Kg/L
to indicate the cell in full charge.
3/ Record all initial open volage reading of all cells and enter the data into the table.
4/ Use resistive load bank connected to the battery bank, and set a selected load at xxxA ( as per 5Hr
discharge table in Nicad battery manual attached)
5/Record temp. of enviroment where the test occurs. Recommended Amb. Temp.= 25C (77F)
6/ take voltage reading of each cell in the battery bank after each period of discharging as indicated in the discharge
performance table below until the third hour.
If there is a reading of 1.10VPC of any cell in the battery bank before the third hour ended, stop the test and report.
In this case the cell does not meet its capacity stated in the discharge table.

The voltage level of the battery/cells should be 1.10 VPC after 5 hrs of discharge to indicate the cell's stated capacity.

Setting: Load = xxxA; Load is resistive load. Amb. Temp.: 25C/77F

Battery bank: # cells to form a xxxVDC/XXXAH battery bank.

Status of each battery cell: Open voltage reading: -----see initial V value-------VDC per cell/block
Test will be finished when a reading of 1.10VDC per any cell in the battery bank achieved.
The test start at :---------------- End at :----------------- ( 5Hrs.)
