Textile Inspection Specifications and Evaluation
All textile inspections will be conducted in accordance with the Four Point System.
The Four Point System derives its name from the following basic grading rules:
No more than four penalty points may be assigned for any single defect; and
No more than four penalty points may be assigned to one linear yard/meter, regardless of
the number of defects within that one yard / meter.
Defects in both the warp/fill or course/wale directions will be assigned points using the
following criteria:
IMPERIAL METRIC
1 Point Defects up to 3” Defects up to 75 mm
2 Points Defects >3” < 6” Defects >75 mm <150
mm
3 Points Defects >6” < 9” Defects >150 mm < 230
mm
4 Points Defects > 9” Defects > 230 mm
FABRIC WIDTH
Fabric width will be checked a minimum of three times during the inspection of a roll
(beginning, middle and end of the roll). The roll width will be checked more often
if the fabric is close to the specified minimum width or if the fabric width is unven.
Rolls having a measurement of less than the specified purchased cuttable width
shall be graded as second quality. The maximum tolerance is + 3% and the minimum
is according to the characteristic of the item.
SHADE MATCHING
Occasionally, different groups of shade matching can occur in production, which must
be separated by lots identified in the pieces.
In this case, each shade must be compared to the approved color. In situations where
this is not possible, it will be used a method of analysis at the Spectrophotomer, where the
shade matching must be in a range of Delta (dE) ≤1,20.
It is possible to have rolls with cuts or amendments according to the quality verified in
the fabric.
In case of entire rolls, with no cuts or amendments, it will be not possible to guarantee a
minimum of yardage.
BOW / SKEW
FABRIC WEIGHT
Fabric weight will be checked (punched/weighed) at least one time during the course of
the inspection on a totally random basis. The allowed tolerance is +/- 3% under the
real weight of the fabric. If the fabric presents a weight out of the tolerance will be
rejected in the inspection.
