    Dear School Administrator,

    Thank you for taking the time to consider my request to teach in [school district name]. I am very
    interested in teaching in your school district. I am currently a senior at Dakota State University and will
    graduate in May of 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education as well as a K-12
    education technology minor and an elementary/assistant coaching endorsement.
    In May, I will complete my student teaching experience at Madison Elementary School District in
    Madison, South Dakota. During my time at Dakota State University I have had the chance to observe and
    teach in second, fourth, and fifth grade classrooms. I have also had to chance to observe in several other
    classrooms. In these field experiences I have learned how to properly construct lesson plans, differentiate
    instruction, manage my time wisely, incorporate technology, use different types of instructional strategies,
    collaborate with peers, and assess students’ learning.
    During my student teaching and other experiences I have had the amazing opportunity to work
    with many different students and to watch them grow. I have had the chance to work with children in
    many settings such as an after school program, 4-H camp, and Sunday school. All of these opportunities
    have taught me that every child is unique and has their own way of thinking. I want to emphasize this
    philosophy in my teaching to help my future students reach their full potential. I also want to include this
    philosophy into my classroom environment. I want my students to feel at home and confident when they
    step into my classroom. Having the chance to work with students is the best part of teaching and is what I
    look forward to everyday.
