BurlingtonEnglish Recording Guide

1 The first time you enter BurlingtonEnglish, a pop-up window will appear requesting
permission for BurlingtonEnglish to access your microphone. Click “Allow”.

2 Check that you have selected the correct recording device. For best results, we recommend
using a headset with a microphone in a quiet work environment with no background noise.

1. Right-click the speaker icon next to the date 2. Select your input device.

Select “Open Sound settings”.

3 To record on Words or Dialogue screens:

1. Click the word, then click the microphone next
to the word. The microphone will start flashing.
Say the word one time in a normal speaking
voice.
2. Next, your score for the recording will appear. Four
green segments of the circle indicate the highest
score, while no green segments represent the
lowest score. You can click the play button inside
the circle to hear your recording.

 4 If you need to adjust your microphone settings, follow the steps below.

For PC Users
1. Right-click the speaker icon
next to the date and time at
the bottom of your screen.
Select “Open Sound settings”.
2. Select your recording device 3. Adjust the volume or test

it is working properly.

For Mac Users

1. Select the system preference 2. Select the sound icon. 3. Select “Input” and adjust “Input
menu. Volume” on your selected
recording device until you get
the best result.

5 When recording, it is not necessary to work in a specific order. We recommend that you complete all
the items on a screen. To see your score, click “Check”. If you leave a screen without clicking “Check”
and receiving a score, your work will be lost and no progress will be registered.
