Capacitance formula Recovery voltage

The capacitances C1 and C2 can be calculated The recovery voltage is the temporary power
according to the following formula: frequency voltage that occurs between the moving
ε eqε0 · WH · π · (D1 + D2) and the fixed contact during change-over selector
C1 = operation after extinction of the electric arc when the
2 · T12
moving contact is temporarily in the intermediate
ε eqε0 · WH · π · (D2 + D3) open position. The recovery voltage (UR) is shown in kV.
C2 =
2 · T23

Where:
WH = Winding height
D1 = Mean diameter of the inner winding (1) or limb
diameter
D2 = Mean diameter of the regulating winding
D3 = Mean diameter of the outer winding (3) or
distance to the tank wall
T12 = Duct between inner (1) and the regulating
winding or distance from the core to the
regulating winding
T23 = Duct between the regulating and outer winding
(3) or distance from the regulating winding to
the tank
εeq = Equivalent relative permeability of the duct
insulation. For normal transformer isolation
the εeq value is approximately 2.7. If a more
solid isolation than normal is used, the εeq value
should be adjusted accordingly.
ε0 = 8.85 x 10-12 F/m
