Planning (activity map PERT & CPM analysis to be included)

Planing-
For any project management the estimation, planing scheduling, execution and evolution is most important
things. The Planning starts with preplanning, also called the marketing stage, and continues through design
and material definition.
For the preliminary planning we used Critical path method for utilization of work period effectively and
also for cost estimation we also used Pert activity mapping to segregate the overall activities to reduce the
working time. We try show the effective path network and how the path has been selected from this
method.in this cost estimation is also important so we shown the preliminary budget comparison with the
final budget and the material required.
Preplanning includes
➢ Selection of model
➢ Making cad drawing-model
➢ Material required
➢ cost estimation
➢ material purchase-procurement
➢ construction and production

Fig 1. SYSTEM AND ZONE ORIENTATION IN THE MANAGEMENT CYCLE

For any ship design we will have design spiral, in the work activities will be given in period of each
design stages.

6
For approaching to the CPM and PERT network analyses we maked the activity list with duration to
complete that particular activity and then shoe the critical path networking as well as PERT to find critical
path for our model on planning stage

Selecting path for modeling as critical path

FOR PATH 1

PATH - 1 = {1------2------4------5--------6-------7}

ADDING DAYS FOR SELECTEDD PATH 1

PATH -1 = {3+1+2+10+2}

= 18 DAYS

FOR PATH 2

PATH - 2 = {1------3------4------5--------6-------7}

ADDING DAYS FOR SELECTEDD PATH 2

PATH -1 = {2+8+2+10+2}

= 22 DAYS

So if will take the PATH 1 for these project it will take 18 days it is 10 less days to comparing the actual
time period to perform the all activities.

The PATH 2 for these projects it will take 22 days it is 6 less days to comparing the actual time period to
perform the all activities.

3. Budget (planned)

The planned budget is 850 for whole project. This budget is analyses by taking list of things are necessary
for the project and what it required. The pricing of all other material accept the cardboard we did preliminary
budget for all accessories by taking reference price on online shopping sites.

18
The ruff estimation was for budget is started with the list of things which we need to proceed the work. For
fabrication we needed the material and other accessories. For cutting we need the scissor, cutter an blades.
For painting we will need the paint brush and the paint to coat the structure.

So we made list of material and estimate the amount before purchasing the material. We took maximum
amount for each component which we are needed. We also add th travelling expenses to our budget to get
the proper value to while constructing this model

Table 3. Preliminary budget estimation for materials

NO COMPONENTS COST(Rs)
1 CARDBOARD 200
2 CUTTER * 2 50
3 SCISOR 100
4 FAVICOL 100
5 FLEX-QUICK * 3 150
6 XEROX 50
7 PAINTING BRUSH * 2 50
8 PAINT 150
9 TRAVELLING 100
TOTAL 850

For the preliminary budget we end up with these materials and accessory requirement with the pricing
shown in table 3. These budget is maximum number of cost while in completion of project the budget can
increase or decrees .

4. Approach towards fabricating the model (activity map PERT & CPM
analysis)

fabrication process we tried to keep fabrication process real as possible, means we had tried to have
construction of model with industry standards while in fabrication. For example, nesting is important while
in production to minimize the waste. then loft making the lofting templet for good frame work. Then the
marking for alignment of the frames in the assembly.

19
In this fabrication work we also did cpm network analysis. Also we shown the fabrication stages that how
we started to fabricate the model from templets to assembly.

FABRICATION PROCESS
Fabrication and production is the main concern for model.it will show the good output if all structural
members are in good shaped and aligned. Our concentration while proceed to fabrication was the frames
which we are cutting it should be in good shape and the second was the marking and all structural
component alignment while assembling

Fig 12. Templet drawing in the AutoCAD

For fabrication the cardboard is cutted to the strips using reference of the frames. For fabrication we maked
frames template to cut the perfect shape of frames. We stick that templet on cardboard and punch through
it to get the exact templet and then drawn the frame on cardboard using that punch as guidance.
