1. Listen to the song “Umaaraw, Umuulan” by Rivermaya. Then, read


the poem entitled “The Rainy Day” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

How would you compare the song to the poem?

The song and the poem tells us a dark, grim life that can break you
down to your knees, It makes you want to give up and never get back
up again, until a glimmer of hope starts to shine over the cold and harsh
obstacle, giving you a sign to never give up and go right through the
obstacle to cease the opportunity to reach your goals, ambitions and
dreams.

2. Listen to the Life of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. How does the


author’s personal experience influence his work?

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow viewed life as more than just materials;


He viewed it as a way of learning and helping others as a focal point.

He helped to shape the identity and legacy of the American character.

His wisdom inspired many people and he was celebrated and some
schools and states were named after him.

4. Listen to “A Time to Talk” by Robert Frost – Poetry Reading

A. In a sentence, explain the main idea of the poem.

The poem tells us about nothing can last forever, reminding us of the
life and death.
B. In a sentence, explain the author’s reason of writing the poem.

The author wants us to know that nothing can stay with us forever.
Either if it’s a loved one or precious material; they’re all going to die. A
harsh ending but it’s the cold reality.
