RESOLUTION 20-36

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF

MARCO ISLAND, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING THE SERVICE
OF THE MEMBERS OF THE MARCO ISLAND POLICE
DEPARTMENT.

WHEREAS, the Marco Island Police Department has made and continues to make
important changes in policy and policing, including the enhancement of services such as
Narcan deployment, the enhancement of professional development opportunities, and
the pursuit of agency-wide accreditation, among other improvements; and

WHEREAS, we recognize and honor the selfless and heroic service provided by
the men and women of the Marco Island Police Department; and

WHEREAS, we rely on law enforcement and community service officers to keep

our neighborhoods safe, enforce our laws, and respond in times of crisis; and

WHEREAS, every day law enforcement officers throughout the nation face the
threat of violence and danger, routinely putting their lives in jeopardy to defend others,
putting themselves at risk of injury, disability, or even death; and

WHEREAS, these men and women by their distinctive service and dedicated
efforts as law enforcement and community service officers, have earned our highest
respect and deepest gratitude.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Marco
Island, Florida, reiterates its continuing support and recognizes the selfless and heroic
service of the Marco Island Police Department and their invaluable contributions in
upholding justice, enforcing the rule of law, and protecting the innocent.

Passed in open and regular session of the City Council of the City of Marco Island, Florida
this 9th day of September 2020.
