    According to a January 2019 report, there were approximately 2.7 million Venezuelan refugees and migrants in Latin America and the Caribbean due to the crisis in Venezuela. This represents about 3.4 million total Venezuelan refugees and migrants worldwide. Colombia hosted the largest number with over 1.1 million Venezuelans, while Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Brazil and Argentina also saw significant increases in Venezuelans fleeing the economic and political instability in their home country. The crisis has caused major challenges for humanitarian organizations seeking to help the large displaced population within the region.
